Thanks for the opinions. I am sure struggling making this decision. I really want to use the purple, my favorite color, but I think the blue actually looks better, makes it look not as dark.
The quilt is for me. It will go on a chair here in my sewing room. Decisions, decisions, decisions.... Dina |
Both are nice but purple seems to stand out more as a frame. ;-)

Okay, now I am leaning towards purple. Phooey....I thought I was closer to making up my mind. I am going to go ahead and cut enough of each color to surround more of the quilt, and maybe that will help...
Maybe not. :) Dina |
I like the purple better because it keeps the colors in the bargello vibrant and the star of the show. The blue border seems to say "Look at me, look at me!!!" In my mind the work of the border is to frame the quilt center not draw attention away from it. JMHO

I think the purple may be winning out but I really prefer the blue. I think it really brightens the quilt. Good Luck!!!

I can see why you like the blue; it definitely lightens it up. But I like the purple because it doesn't wash the quilt out so much. So....if the goal is to lighten up the quilt, what about one of the *other* purple shades from the quilt? Or a darker blue?

When I looked at the two pics, I immediately liked the purple border better. Seems the majority of the other quilters share that opinion...

my first thought was I love the purple......but looking a second time, the blue really does more for the quilt. And it shows up nicely from the black boarder. I would probably go blue

Purple! Your quilt is gorgeous!
