Blue for me. It seems to give a dimension to the quilt .

Why not use both? Blue first, then purple then the black?

I may be in he minority but I vote for the blue. Fabulous quilt.

You have more blue than purple in the body of the quilt. The blue does stop the movement of the bargello and makes the blue pop. The purple seems to leave the movement unfinished or hanging in mid-air so to speak. I like the blue better.

Does it need an inner border at all? Border it with black and let the bargello stand alone. The purple and the blue both compete with your design--my opinion anyhow. This is a gorgeous quilt. Hmmm--putting it on a chair. Will it make a difference what the inner border is? Won't it be folded and hidden?

My choice is blue, but I'm not a "purple person". I agree that the purple blends into the black and doesn't frame as well as the blue. Beautiful though.
