Applique, piecing, etc. Some ideas: four 12 inch blocks A complex block, enlarged One block set on point with corner setting triangles. Ill calculate the size of the on point block and repost for you. sixteen 6 inch blocks Im sure there are more... this is just to start the discussion |
Also our dearly loved Quilter's Cache has blocks that are 24". Here's the link http://www.quilterscache.com/BlocksbySizeE.html just be sure to scroll down to the bottom where the 20+ are.

OK here's a picture of my center, started.
I know this is kind of wierd, but the inspiration for this is all the dragonflys buzzing about our pond. There must be 15 different kinds. One day I sat on the dock and took pictures of as many as I could. They just dont sit still for very long... |

That is very pretty. I love the idea. Mine is taking shape, but not quite ready for the photograph stage yet.

Very pretty Judy! That will invite some wonderful border colors!
I am drawing out mine. I plan on working on it while at the beach. I will do a landscape center also, probably titled "Southern Spring" or something like that. The tough thing is to remember that the design is only 24x24 and I can't make it too detailed or the pieces will get too small! |
Let's move our discussion to this thread. OK?

After two days of searching pattern and block sites for inspiration, I decided I was going to have to teach myself to paper piece to make this block as special as I want it. I looked at on line sources and a book I have, practiced with scraps, practiced with the pattern and fabrics I want to use, and now am not happy with the color of one of my fabrics ... so off to JoAnn's I go! Twist my arm ...
