In the guidelines, it was noted that you can use any technique.. just do your best work...

So, it is entirely up to you.. if you think it will add to the quilt.. go for it....

mixed techniques go quite nicely in a quilt...

Sazu, I am in Chatham Kent, soooo cold. We have to catch the flight this morning and I mean early morning 3AM, so its going to be horrible driving we have had a lot of fog too.

Can't wait to get back to Spain, don't think I will ever moan about the spanish weather again. LOL Yes you can come back with me, willing to get up at 3am, but you gotta hurry and pack. LOL

  I'm blushing but I'm soooo happy that you like it. Of course I did run into your center dimension like I said I was going to. With only the 3" to work with....the effect just wouldn't have worked I don't think. I just added some more color to it so the next person in line will have even more fun working with it! I think you will like your quilt when you get it back..but you know it did start out pretty darn good

SazuBMidlands 12-26-2008 03:55 PM

Oh WOW! Thats amazing!

tlrnhi 12-27-2008 10:23 PM

I just think it's beautiful! I just showed Lauren and of course, what did she say? I WANT THAT!! lol

sandpat 12-28-2008 06:06 AM

Well, I'm so glad she liked it...

2Doods - Here is what I added to your center block. I haven't mailed it yet so I can redo something if you don't like it.

The hard part here was deciding what to do. I didn't want to detract from your beautiful work.

I love it Mary! Great choice!! I agree with you about deciding what to do. That is the hard part for me too. Thank you!

Are the centers applique or panels? Looks great

purplemem 12-31-2008 06:53 PM

The centers are panels...Gypsy by Benartex (sp??)

I LOVE THIS! So fabulous, thank you Alice!
This is one beautiful center now.

MJ

And NO, Patti, ! You can't have it.

They were in a large panel. It was a little wonky so I cut the squares out and put sashing inbetween to help straighten it out. (I asked purplemem if I could first! ) I love the Jewel colors! It is so much prettier than the pictures. The colors just didn't come through very well.

Mary Jane-It has been fun working on this for you :!:

tlrnhi 01-01-2009 03:01 AM

I am sooo mad! I bought fabric for Elle's center and cannot find it ANYWHERE and do you think there is any of that fabric left? Of course not! Why? Because I was the one who bought it all! UGH!!
But, no worries, I did find some fabric I can add a border with, just won't be what I actually wanted to do, but am going to add a little extra to the corners. Now, I have to go searching the web for exactly what I need to put on those corners. :) :)

Butterflyspain 01-01-2009 06:28 AM

Oh dear, never mind Terri, its going to be a surprise anyway whatever you do. Donīt worry bout it .

Tell you a funny story. Colin bought me some extra special laser scissors for Christmas, so that there would be no more squiffy cutting, guess what he canīt find them and another one that he bought, so I got the tag but no present, he is still hunting LOL

Butterfly that sounds like my house!!!

Butterflyspain 01-01-2009 08:22 AM

This house eats things..... LOL

beachlady 01-01-2009 12:11 PM

Butterflyspain - tell him to look under the mattress - found presents for my kids under mine one January. Think I had started to wrap them and they came home and I shoved them under and in the middle of a king size bed and didn't think of them again. Don't you just hate it when you put something some where so you won't forget and then you do forget???

I'm thinking mine does too. I think the geckos are checking out my stash and liking it and then swiping it from me. :)

purplemem 01-01-2009 10:17 PM

I have so much stuff put away SOMEWHERE SAFE that I will never find  . SOMEWHERE SAFE IN MY HOUSE is my original car title and birth certificate, beautiful fat quarters, quilt patterns that I love, and even MONEY. I once found $100 in my sock drawer in a pair of socks, rolled up to be SOMEWHERE SAFE.

You gotta love this absent-minded girl. Every day is a surprise

tlrnhi 01-01-2009 10:26 PM

I wish I could find money like that! Sheesh!
Can I come to your house and look for your things that you have "lost" and then keep what I find? lol

purplemem 01-01-2009 10:30 PM

Terri,
You are welcome at my house any time and you can keep whatever you want. Just come visit - we'd love to have you. :!: :!:

Well? I just might be taking a jaunt to the states sooner than anyone expects. Hoping that when Courtney graduates from Coast Guard Basic Training, I can go.

purplemem 01-01-2009 10:46 PM

Ohhhh, that would be cool. :-o
Where does she go for Basic? And when are you expecting her to leave?

I received this fantastic angel ornament for Christmas that said,
"Twas her thinking of others that made you think of her" Elizabeth B. Browning. I immediately thought of you when I received it.

She'll be going to Cape May, NJ, but ya never know where I might show up! :)

Pat, Elle's block will be out to you on Monday. I hope you can do as good on hers as you did mine. What I did, didn't do it justice, but after looking at it again, and hubby agrees, it didn't need much, just something to break up the applique on it. Now, you can work your "magic" on it. :)

Butterflyspain 01-02-2009 05:29 AM
