My small board was in terrible shape and I needed to recover it immediately. I didn't have my usual stuff so I grabbed some insul-bright and an old very thin towel. It is unbelievable! I am going to recover my 2 larger ironing surfaces as soon as I can get more product. Not only does it have a great feel, the results are great.

My DH made a big board to cover my regular ironing board. I put the reflective material that Joann's recommended down, then a layer of batting, and then a layer of fabric. Got a staple gun and went to town on the underside. I LOVE IT!
You do need about 4 hands to get it all tight and stapled correctly.

I used Insul-Bright on my small portable ironing surface, and it works great. If it's good enough for oven mitts it's also good for ironing boards; and it works great too.
