Iron board cover for quilting
 

I need a new cover for my ironing board, wondering if anyone has used Insul-Bright for ? I bought some a while ago to
make some hot pads for my kitchen, would like to use it up!

I use it on ALL my ironing boards.

Never thought of using insul-bright on my ironing board what a great tip.

I've used Insulbrite for a long time under the cover.

So do you put it with the shiny side up or down?

Insulbrite doesn't have a right/wrong side. I used it as the base for my ironing board with a cover of Teflon ironing board fabric.

Insul-bright has directions on the cover sheet that comes with it. It tells which side gets the shiny pieces. I'll quote
from that sheet. "The shinier metal looking side of Insul-Bright should always face the hot or cold item allowing it to reflect the energy back to its source."
Also: "Not for use in the Microwave!"
So you would want the heat to be reflected up to your item being ironed; that means shiny side up.

I made a board like this to put on my regular board. I can attach my extra board to the bottom of my ironing by hooking it to the metal frame.

I will quote from the cover sheet that comes with Insul-Bright. "Not for use in the microwave." And: "The shinier metal looking side of Insul-Bright should always face the hot or cold item allowing it to reflect the energy back to its source."
(I will have to take issue the the "Cold" directions. If I have a lunch bag and want to keep my item cold, I would want to face the shiny side out to reflect the outside heat away from my lunch.)

But with ironing, you want the heat to be reflected back up to the item be ironed, so the shiny side should be facing up.
