Iron Died, what should I get?
Oh, wow, two days to go with Christmas projects and my Rowenta just died!! I pulled an old Sunbeam that weights 1/2 lb, but gets hot, out of a box in the garage. Now I am shopping for a new iron..just assumed I would get a Rowenta, but am questioning that choice. Any one can recommend another brand/model???? Gonna spend some Ebay Christmas gift card to get a new one.
Thanks Merry Christmas all! |
get an inexpensive one that works and toss it when it goes bad.
Reports on the more expensive models are never always good. There are some who love them but a larger number who don't. I have a lower model of Rowenta. So I can't give a very good review of it. It works ok. However, my daughter has had them and told me yesterday that of the two she has had they quit after 3 yrs. this is only one case. Suggest you search for this subject in previous posts. |
Love my Rowenta - have one of the more expensive models, I give it heck - use it as a steam iron, leave it turned on all night some times, dogs knock it onto the floor - it just goes on and on.

I have had expensive ones and cheap ones and have finally just bought cheap ones. I don't put water in it, just spritz water with a spray bottle. I've found cheap ones last just as long and can toss them and buy another when they stop working.

get a cheap one from walmart that does what you want it to..or shop the thrift stores for the older black&decker or sunbeams with the turquoise cord!

I have a Rowenta. It's about 8 years old and I haven't had any problems with it. I think I bought it at Target for around $50. Well actually, I dropped the original one I bought about 6 months after I got it, so I had to go buy a replacement.

I bought an Oliso back in the spring and I love it. My favorite part about it is the fact that is stays hot for 30 minutes before it cuts off. For quilters, this feature is really nice....you aren't always waiting for it to get hot again. It's expensive, but I have found it to worth it. The yellow one is the one that stays on for 30 minutes.

Here is another recent thread on irons that might help as well.
