Made my own.

For about $40 I made a topper following Sharon Shamber's vid. I had gift cards so i didn't pay anything but the total cost was around 40-45. I did some research on OSB and finally went with that instead of plywood. I use a regular steam iron not one of the industrial steamers. I didn't think that with all the layers on top that there was much danger of fumes. I figured if Sharon has survived...why not. I had Home Depot cut the sheet for me. 2 free cuts. I have a wide ironing board that's 18 x 48 and has a little iron shelf which makes it 55-56. I had the board cut the same size as the golden hands iron EZ ($99). It went together very quickly: OSB 21x59, staple gun, duck canvas, 3 layers of W & N cotton batting. Then I bought the iron ez gridded cover on Amazon (another gift card), and it fits like a dream. 2 coats of scotch guard and I'm good to go.

Love the board and cover, Mengler.

For clothes ( and other things) check out the Elna press. Had one for my home dec sewing...great for shirts & pants...it' s an electric home version of what dry cleaners use.

I picked up an older ironing board at Goodwill many years ago. The ironing board is avocado green, so that tells you how old it is.
I love it because it's sturdier, taller (which is important for me), and a bit wider. I did buy a rectangular ironing board that I bought at a quilt store that sits on top of the ironing board which is great for my quilting. That probably gets my a space of 18x48 or so to iron on. I'm going to add some more batting to it and a prettier cover. I can't imagine spending $500 for an ironing board....sorry... |
The cover instructions suggested Scotchguard. What a great idea for any ironing board cover. I put two coats on. Waiting to spill my coffee. Lol.

It's crazy expensive, but the Container Store sells a wide ironing board here: https://www.containerstore.com/s/pol...roning%20board
