Anybody have any hints to make it easier? Or is it just destined to be a pain?????

Teri, I have no solution! BUT, when it's all done you reap the rewards :)
I did one last year and hope it lasts a loooong time LOL

I have a really wide ironing board that has been worth it's weight in gold. But king is really large. You just have to just keep trucking through it.

i went through that recently and did the entire top on my portable table top ironing board!

I would recommend praying a lot and using a towels on the floor maybe? just depends on how much floor space you might have and your floor type.
