We have it available but they charge Extra!!!!

I save my empty spools, cones and give them to a local scout group-- those boys are very creative& find all kinds of great uses for them. One of the local art teachers at the elementary school has asked for them a few times too.

I don't buy spools anymore. I buy the cones, and believe me, it takes quite a while to go through an entire cone. Just a thought.

but. but. that would be practical :)

A friend of mine used to take my extras and made cat toys out of them. But my DD that is a school teacher and they just got a full time are teacher that is willing to take such items. Kids get so creative with such items. We don't have any independent craft stores anymore - we had one that came up with such creative ideas to re-use all sorts of items we just throw away.

My empty spools go to the city Garden and Art Center. They have craft classes for kids which are operated by the city recreation department.
I have also give the narrow spools to a friend who is collecting them to be sewn on to "fidget" blankets for Alzheimer's patients.

I would be very happy to buy your empty guterman spools (the narrow ones). I have a way to refill and use them with a spacer on my serger so I don't have to buy multiple cones of thread in all colors.

our guild take the spools and uses them to wrap thread on for learning disabled that we work with, that way if it falls or is mishandled its no big loss. I'd be happy to take them and pay for postage.

We have recycling here too, but you have to pay to have it picked up. They want everything washed, lids/caps removed & have a limited selection of items they'll take. Recently they stopped taking glass. They told everyone to send it to the landfill. The recycling market is way down on many items due to the low oil prices.

Close to where I live is a store that sells stuff that we'd throw away. People just donate things to the store, such as these spools. Other people come into the store and buy the stuff. I think a lot of teacher shop there.
