It's Back!! Virtual Quilt Day will be on Sunday 1/20 - Are you ready??

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season. it has been a busy couple of months for me. Not much sewing at all!! So I am happy to be bringing back our VQD so maybe I can get something quilty done!!

If you are not familiar with VQD, it's very, very easy. There are no rules!! I will make a new thread on Sunday, then you come back and post your goals in that new thread and then check in through out the day and let us know how it's going and cheer the rest of us on!! Easy Peasy. You can join any time of the day!! I will post the new thread on Sunday at 5 AM EST to try and get in early for those over the pond. Be sure to be on the lookout for it. This is a great way for all of us to have a quilt lock-in without having to drag our machines around town. :) :) It's a lot of fun and a lot of work gets done. Woo-hoo!! Of course pictures are appreciated, but not required.

So you have 3 days to prepare ...... Will you be joining me??

Rachel

Ah Rachael she with so much energy! I always have virtual quilt days. I quilt all day on Sundays until I need a break. It sounds like fun if my memory is working I will pop on over here. I am doing a quilt for quilters that needs movement on it and also a wall quilt for Rhondas quilt swap that i havent even started yet. Yikes! so sure bring it on! today its mug rugs and quilted tablerunners for two of my board friends :) got one runner done not bound and well conceptualized the other runner so busy day. I am not terrifficaly fast. about two blocks per day and I am tired most of the time. I am on dialysis so you see Sunday is my Saturday lol I treasure Sunday and Mondays all day quilt time with a bit more energy. yahhoooo!!! see you Sunday. ghee could someone come help me virtually? like with the cutting? lol lug your machine your welcome at my house anytime everyone.

Grandma of 6 01-17-2013 06:31 AM

Sounds like fun. I'll be here checking in all day...although I hope I spend more time in front of the machine than I do at the computer!

mighty 01-17-2013 07:57 AM

That sounds like alot of fun I will be checking in!

thimblebug6000 01-17-2013 08:15 AM

This sounds like fun. I always seem to need some motivation. But, my problem is once I get on the computer I forget the time and spend literally hours reading all the posts! But, I think I will check in anyway. I have goals for the weekend and just need to get it done!

Jan in VA 01-17-2013 11:13 AM

I've been waiting for this one! So much quilting to get done in January and February before our quilt show. Having to commit and check in helps keep me motivated....me, the procrastinator, LOL!
See you there....though surely NOT at 5am!:D

Jan in VA

kristakz 01-17-2013 12:54 PM

Looking forward to it!! I should have most of my goals for Jan finished by then, so maybe I can do something for myself.

MissSongbird 01-17-2013 01:01 PM

There's a possibility I will be a part of this. I was planning on using Sunday to work on some stuff anyway, but we will have to see how it goes. I also have ballroom practice for 3.5 hours right in the middle of the day that day so that will take up a big chuck of time.

Ccorazone 01-17-2013 01:04 PM

I'll be working and wil sign with my goals for the day.

Raggiemom 01-17-2013 01:29 PM

I'll be there after church!

Silver Needle 01-17-2013 01:37 PM

I'm going to try this. I have several things that need worked on, including binding.

ube quilting 01-17-2013 02:15 PM

I have been waiting for this and getting prepared to get a lot of sewing done! Woopie!
peace

I'm in the process of unsewing my apple blossom quilt and turning the diamonds around because I didn't like the way I pieced it with the solid center. I want to finish it on Sunday.

auntpiggylpn 01-17-2013 03:14 PM

Shoot! We are going out of state this weekend and won't be back until late Sunday.. . Pooo! I was just thinking about the VQD earlier this week and thought maybe it would get me out of my slump. I haven't done any quilting since right before Christmas. I did clean my quilting room and sorted out some fabrics to donate but that is the closest that I have gotten to quilting in a while. I'll probably have to blow the dust off my machine when I finally sit down to do something quilty!

ontheriver 01-17-2013 05:25 PM

I plan on being there.

nhweaver 01-17-2013 05:29 PM

There is a big football game that day - but I will join you until the afternoon - husband is going to a rally in the am then he is having a man's football party. the wives are having dinner out at the beach and then to the movies. I will put in a couple of hours of quiet sewing while he is gone. I will be washing fabric tomorrow for some quilts for kids - so I have some new to do. I am so tired of finishing one UFO, but I am 90% finished with the blocks, and tomorrow, I am finishing the blocks. come Heck or high water (or snow).

DonnaR 01-17-2013 05:38 PM

franc36 01-17-2013 06:20 PM

I'll go to early church so I'll have more time to quilt. I love Virtual Quilt Day!

wanda lou 01-17-2013 06:49 PM

I will be quilting away with you all.

Cheers!

I plan to quilt all day on both Saturday and Sunday this weekend. I will try to remember to check in. I may not because of that awful CRAFT disease I have.

wc00007 01-18-2013 01:48 PM

Sounds like a lot of fun.

DOTTYMO 01-18-2013 02:45 PM

Do we quilt our own thing and just log. On periodically to show how we are progressing? Never done this before.

Yep, that's basically it. Quilt all day on any project(s) you want, share progress as you go along, and have fun! Or, as some of us do, start reading the thread, get all caught up on the computer, and get nothing done all day :)

nhweaver 01-18-2013 05:14 PM

Go Pats Go!!! From an exPATriac!!

Mariposa 01-18-2013 05:22 PM

I'll check in during the afternoon. After church and lunch. :)

DOTTYMO 01-19-2013 12:05 AM

Okay looks exciting. I joined in new year day and enjoyed the experience. Not going to church as England is covered in snow and as we are so brilliant t coping( tongue in cheek) with it. Whole country amber alert and roads blocked so no 30 mile trip. The thread is staring earlier than new year day so thank you US for getting up early.

Jusmom01 01-19-2013 02:40 AM

I will try to get on board, but can only do so if I can manage to clear off the paperwork on my cutting table! I'm drowning in it, but I really do need to get started on the quilted pillow to match the quilt I made my dad for Christmas!

QultingaddictUK 01-19-2013 03:13 AM

What a super idea, we are snowed in here in Anglesey and with the ice and sub-zero temperatures I am not risking going out, so having a quilting weekend is a super idea. I am working on Sasha's quilt http://www.lovequiltsuk.com/childquilt.php?qid=421 for LovequiltsUK.com so I will post pics of my progress throughout the day. With the backing of the VQD I may even get it finished by Sunday evening which would be great :)

athenagwis 01-19-2013 04:51 AM

Tomorrow is the big day!! Remember to look for the NEW thread, don't post in this one tomorrow. We want ot have everyone's goals and check-ins together in on place.

Cheers!
Rachel

jmoore 01-19-2013 04:51 AM

Oh how I wish I could join in as I have not yet had the opportunity... sadly, I have to pass this Sunday as I will be painting my retail store for about 4 days and my poor Janome will have to sit patiently...

cannyquilter 01-19-2013 05:17 AM

Well tomorrow have my grandchildren to stay we are going sledging!!!! But will try to sandwich my quilt today so I can do the quilting and binding once they have gone home. Love these Virtual Quilt Days, will def mark February's on my calendar so I can make sure I have no prior arrangements. Dottymo you will love it it really spurs you on and keeps you focused (I need something to do that) Thanks Rachel for organising. See you all tomorrow.

MaryAnnMc 01-19-2013 06:02 AM

This will be a perfect incentive to chain myself to my Bernina and finish quilting the border on my latest quilt! See y'all tomorrow~

Lstew2212 01-19-2013 06:11 AM

I will be there or here, whichever:) I have several projects I am working on.

grann of 6 01-19-2013 06:13 AM

I had it on my old calendar and forgot to transfer the date to the 2013 one, so I'm glad I saw this. My long arm is out of commission so I will be working on some smaller projects for some fund raising charities. I am also working on a "special occasion" quilt for myself. Since I have 2 large dogs that get on the bed I can't have a quilt on all the time, but when a special occasion arises I will have one to put on. I am doing one of those lattice quilts with all batiks. Will probably be working on that too. Oh, and I am also in the wallhanging swap, so will be working on that too.

georgiamarbles 01-19-2013 06:40 AM

Sounds like fun!! i will certainly try to get in here!! ineed toget startedon a quilt for my grandaughter's BD in april... she has informed me she has "outgrown" her raggedy ann quilt i made her for her 3rd BD...LOL she is going to be 8.

oldtnquiltinglady 01-19-2013 08:40 AM

I am sitting here in a fuzzy fog trying to remember when I saw the other posting that you mentioned (around the first of Jan?) and gave some thought to giving it a try. I am a joiner from the word go, but my stamina soon burns out; what should I do. I have some projects that I've started in previous years and never got back to; is that what I am supposed to find and work on? And what about signing on in another posting? Is that what I have to do? Maybe I'll try to get my DD over here and get her to figure it out for me. (Thank goodness for smart kids) Does it mean that once I sign on, I have to spend every Sunday reading and working only on that project?????

MargeD 01-19-2013 08:57 AM

I may decide to join you, as I have plenty of UFO's and other projects to quilt. I know my evening will be free as the Patriots are playing at 6:30 and my husband gets the living room and the bigger TV. Might as well get something accomplished while he watches the game.

llamalady 01-19-2013 10:38 AM

I will join you by working on a table runner I just cut out. But Tom Brady gets my undivided attention later in the afternoon. Go Pats!!!
