This was going to be my suggestion also. Something that matches or coordinates with the backing and is good sized, maybe 14" square stitched to the backing would hold your feet and keep the quilt from pulling up.

I made a rag quilt several yrs ago & it was too short for when I recline in recliner. So... I just added more squares.

I guess I am going to go simple.....I would add a fleece foot pocket at the end of the quilt. Then when you put it away for the summer, you can fold it and putit inside its own pocket like a Quillow!

I would probably add a bit to 2 ends to balance. If you have enough fabric, adding a border (s) around the whole thing would also work.
