Ask your dealer about it...boy it made a world of difference...no longer frustrated and doing the happy dance :-D

Thanks for the info, and I'm going to go to the dealer today and check it out.

I did the same thing. the flange thingy was not quite right, a little over a 1/4 inch. so I snapped it off. I like it now.

With ,y Janome 6600, the quarter foot with Acu feed is 3/8"seam. That's OK if I remember to readjust every time I turn it on. Had to do a lot of ripping on the last quilt. It can be very frustrating! My other Janomes 1/4"feet were always fine, tho.

What is now called a 1/4" foot was originally used for edge stitching.
Think collar/cuff with a line of very neat top stitching parallel to the edge.

I have the Janome Horizon and love it. I use both the Acufeed and regular 1/4" feet, but have to adjust my needle position. That's no problem -- just takes a second. I also found that I have to adjust the needle position on my stitch in the ditch foot also. Don't get too frustrated -- it takes a bit to learn the little quirks on each machine -- after all -- each one has a different personality.

I have the 6600. At a class with Bonnie Hunter, she told me that the metal piece messed up the 1/4 so she ripped hers off. I haven't done that yet but may in the future. I hate trying to get that elusive 1/4"

Yep, I use the little foot on my 6600 because it is clear has several useful marking and does not have that awful metal thin=g on the side. I don't like the even feed 1/4" foot as it requires a different throat plate and I don't want to bother with changing it all the time, and you are right it still has that metal thing!!!
If you use the little foot check the instruction for proper placement of the little washer for a Janome.

I have the CLEAR VIEW QUILTING FOOT AND GUIDE SET,
part No. 200-449-001. I use only this foot with or without
the guide. Hope it will help you/

I quilt with a Janome 1/4 inch foot with the metal guide and adjust the needle position for an accurate scant 1/4. Wouldn't do it any other way. Perfect dimensions every time.
