Janome Horizon's don't cost $7500. You should be able to buy one for about $3000 or lower. I had the 6500 before I upgraded to the Horizon. It's a great machine. The 6600 is a step up from the 6500 with the acufeed. It would also be a great machine. I don't know what the problem was with Shelbie's experience. It sounds like it needs some service work. I have 4 other friends that have had either a 6500 or 6600 without any problems. Two of them upgraded to the Horizon before I did. Janomes are great machines!! Good luck!! :)

I was getting confused - sorry - the horizon is about 3,500 here in Oz - its the memory craft 11000 that is $7000 - holy cow!!!!
I am loving the look of the 6600p - I can get it for $1000 off as well at the moment. Oh for a windfall;-) |
hi i have the 1600p on my quilting frame and i just love it.
it does just a straight stitch but it does a fantastic job. i have not had troubles so far, knock on wood. have fun shopping for a machine |
I have the 6500 and love it. I think I bought it in 2005 or 2006. Have never had any problems with it. I do clean it on a regular basis and put a drop of oil in the wick in the bobbin area ever so often. I bought a single stitch throat plate for piecing, but other than that I have not bought any other accessories.

I purchased the Janome 6600 in the fall and I have really enjoyed using this machine. It has done a fantastic job no matter what I was sewing. The AccuFeed system is wonderful. Love this machine - I paid $1200.00 new from a dealer in the Lancaster, PA area. I don't think you would go wrong with this machine.

I've actually got just a basic pfaff at the moment - it does all zig zag stitches etc if I ever decided to branch out in to art quilts:) So far I'm just trying to get my next project after a 9 patch organised. I am loving the look of the 1600p QC as well....decisions decisions. I live in the country - so can't just pop down to sewing centres to try them out... phew.

I have mountains of gorgeous fabric waiting to be sewn - but I've been busy having kids the last few years and now the eldest is off to school I have 3 hours a day of nap time - I can't wait to get into it!! :) |

When you first push on the foot feed (at least on my machine) it starts out slow as molasses in January and takes its own sweet time to get up to speed...and this is no matter what speed you have it set on. I'm used to my older Bernina...I put it in "race" and she takes off! But all in all, the 6600 is a good machine, and doesn't balk at whatever I've thrown at her. Now if I could just make her "go" like the Bernina, I'd be a happy camper. Price was good, about $1500 in October. Take a chance! Good luck!

I have a Janome 6500. I find it to be steadfast and reliable. Bought her several years ago.
