Janome 6600... issue have you folks had this?
I have had my Janome 6600 for 5 years now and I love it. Just this week I had something odd happen. I am working on a double wedding ring and I am using more pins than I usually do. I am using the thin silk pins
well last week my machine choked and just stopped running. I took it to the shop and I got it back today. They gave me a bag with pins and on the bill put a note " all of these pins were in the machine and I think that caused the fuse to blow" I was at the store last minute it was open and the service was gone so I couldn't ask him. How did the pins get in there? What am I doing - or not doing :) Any thoughts? I will probably call to get his opinion but I always like getting the thoughts from this bunch as well |
Wow...can’t offer any explanation. I don’t think my machine has ever swallowed any pins. I’m curious as to what part of the machine they found them in.
|
No I haven't. That's just weird. :shock:The only thing I've ever done that way, is drop a new needle down the hole when changing it and couldn't retrieve it, so took it in for service. Now I put a business card over the hole to prevent that..

Theresa, I caught my granddaughter dropping pins into one of the screw holes in the bed of my Bernina! Have you had any little helpers in your sewing room?
|
Wow! Do you take your pins out as you sew or sew over them?
|
Yikes. Looks like Kathy solved the mystery. I think if you sewed over
pins you would definitely know. |
Kathy - no I haven't had any little helpers :) just this one old one
I do sometimes (not very often) sew over my pins, but they are there and I pull them out later. I am going to call the shop and get their ideas because I know I don't want it to happen again thanks |
How many pins were in there?
|
Were they the silk pins you are using on you DWR, or your 'normal' quilting pins?
Were you pulling the pins as you went, or sewing over them? Were the pins that were found in the machine bent? Do you have a single needle plate or the zigzag one? If they were the thin pins, you sewed over them and they were bent, my thought is that the needle hit them & forced them into the machine. especially if you have a zigzag plate. |
Are they the same pins you use?
