I agree that having to unscrew the plate to clean out the bobbin is a bit of a hassle, but that's the only negative I find about mine. It's a great machine!

I love my 6600! I have used it for raw edge applique with great success.

The 6600 has a lot of stitch options and, although I'm new to raw edge appliqué, it does a wonderful job... I've had my machine 5 years and couldn't give it up when I purchased the 8900 last spring

I love, love, love my 6600. It does everything I ask it to do, and I make a lot of quilts and bags. The walking foot is amazing, but even without it, the feed is so even when piecing, I rarely pin anymore. I doubt this is a purchase she will regret. I'd buy mine again if necessary, and hate to think of purchasing anything else for my girls when they need a machine of their own. (They are spoiled and call dibs on the 6600 when they are both sewing a project at the same time. )

I also love my 6600. I do all my own FMG and this machine is a workhorse.

I've had my Janome 6600 for 5 years, and still love that machine!!! I have done a lot of raw edge applique on it, and it works beautifully. I can't think of anything negative about the 6600, and my repairman (who has repaired all makes of sewing machines for over 30 years) says he gets more positive comments about the 6600 than any other machine.
Me too.i've had one for about the same time. I do a lot of applique. I like that you have a couple of different types of blanket stitches you can use which come in handy with different shapes and widths so you can do just a light stitch or a heavy stitch with it. I love the sizzers and stop start button. I never did put my foot pedal on it. |
I love my 6600. I did not know I needed a new machine - had been sewing on my old Bernina since 1977, but hubby felt guilty when he bought a new sax, and the next thing I knew, I had the 6600. I have been using it heavily since then, and am so happy to have the foot down feature, my knee lift, the walking foot, and many types of stitches. I have done applique happily with it - it has several versions of the blanket type stitch. I highly recommend it!

Great machine.

I bought one used that had been traded in at a sewing center. Great sewing machine. I have been using it since shortly after I started quilting several years ago.

Yes it is. I'm speaking from experience.
