Thank you! I am a procrastinator but since you put it right in front of me, my straight stitch plate is now ordered. I can’t wait to get it.

You're welcome. You might want to put a note or cover your stitch
selection buttons while sewing with the straight stitch needle plate.
That way you won't try sewing a zig zag or anything that requires
the zig zag plate by accident. Ask me how I know. :D

I usually use leaders and enders too. But, I took a class once and the instructor said if you have this problem, there is an easy fix, just hold onto both threads when you start sewing for a second and the fabric should not be gobbled up. Try it, it works great!

I have the Janome 6600 and have no trouble with the machine eating the fabric when I chain piece. So sorry this is happening to you and I am sure it is very frustrating. What about taking your machine to a place that would service your it? Good luck to you and hopefully your problem can be resolved. I also agree that maybe using leaders and enders would help
