The one at Walmart is not as wide. That is way the one at Knols costs a lot more. The Jamone is a big machine so I am not sure if it will fit inside the cabinet. My hubby wants me to get a nice wood one but I think if it fits that one would be fine...that way I will not feel bad if it does get bumped or nicked.

Mine was about the same. just call your local dealer.

I paid 2500

I got a package deal - machine, table, travel case on wheels, 12 pack thread, blue dot bobbin case and binding tool - $3180 out the door.

Donna H-M 04-05-2011 02:55 PM

I don't know what state you are in.........I (we) purchased ours near Lancaster, PA.

I measured mine and it is the same. I got it at Walmart on line a little more than 3 years ago, though. They have one now that appears to be the same for $99 with free shipping to store. I paid $75 but it was a special Black Friday deal.

My Elna is a big machine and it has a few inches to spare but I'm not sure how the Horizon is proportioned in comparison so I'd definitely measure it before buying any table, desk or cabinet with the thought to cut a hole to sit the Horizon down into.

The 60" measurement at Kohl's is when it's all opened up. Sauder has it on their website & gives the dimensions both open & closed. It is the same as the Walmart one. Hopefully you didn't pay what Kohl's wants for it! And, no, it's not "real" wood but it is sturdy and durable. I haven't managed to mess mine up yet.

Patricia Ann 04-05-2011 06:42 PM

I got one just like that at Joann when they were on sale for 189.00 and there is no hole for a sewing machine you just set your machine on top of it.So any machine will fit.

Jannie 04-05-2011 09:23 PM

I love my Janome Horizon. I traded my 6600 in & got full price for the trade in. I love my dealer. I have a 4800 that I was talked into keeping when I got the 6600. I'm glad I kept it because it is great to take to class or other places because it is much lighter than the other 2. Most of the feet came with my machine, but I will have to check into the blue bobbin & the special needles.

carolaug 04-06-2011 12:56 AM

I also have the binding tool set for the Janome 7700 but have yet to use it. have any of you girls tried the binding tool? http://janomelife.wordpress.com/2010...omment-page-1/

lillybeck 04-06-2011 04:43 AM

No but I sin because I covet one.

cbridges22 04-06-2011 01:50 PM

Has anyone seen how this works?

carolaug 04-06-2011 03:19 PM

I have seen a few videos but none that did the corner which is what I would like to see...I did find one that was a PDF but a video would be more helpful. I need to make a small placemat and just do it and figure it out...I just do not have a lot of time to play with it. I have seen people write that once you get the hang of it its awesome...wish they had a better tutorial on it.

I have read my whole instruction manual and do not see anywhere that it talks about oiling the machine.Does anyone have any info on that.I have only had my machine a couple weeks and am still learning it.

The manual doesn't tell you to do it. But on the User Group on Yahoo, all the " experts " there say to put a drop of sewing machine oil on the wick that you'll see under the bobbin case. Requires that you unscrew the 2 screws and remove the plate under the needle, then remove the bobbin case.

The user group is pretty helpful, if you want to check it out.

This is the sewing cabinet/table I like...trying to figure out if the Jamone will fit.

If you mean the 7700, it is larger than other Janomes, even bigger than the 6600
Also FYI, we looked at these cabinets before for DD's machine, but they don't appear to have an insert or drop for machines ... they just sit on top

Shame on Janome ... for the big $$$ price of the 7700 you'd sure think ALL these things would COME WITH IT !? You're talking about $150 worth of access. that SHOULD come with that $3,000 price tag

I bought one like that at Wal-Mart for about $100. It would sit on top of it.

These needles are available at JoAnn's.

I have a MC 9000, but not the 7700. I still love my 9000 and it works fine, so no need to trade it in. A friend does have one and she loves it. The 7700 is much bigger than the 9000/9500. She got hers at the Vermont Quilt Festival for $2400. If you're in Burlington, VT, you might want to wait for the end of June and go to Festival to check out a demo. The shop called Bittersweet always vends there and they will have the 7700 to play with.

jillnjo 04-07-2011 09:09 AM

I have the 7700 and I LOVE it,no complaints. My shop owner offered a super good class on learning all the functions of the machine and let us try many of the feet you can purchase for it. I think anyone should take a class if it's available. It is a marvelous machine!!

I have found several sizes of machine quilting needles and it is important to get the correct size. How do you determine which size fits your project?

wtxpeach 04-07-2011 04:24 PM

How much does the binding attachment cost?

I live in Canada, but my dealer told me that the binding attachment is $150.00 and every time she demos it, she sells it. I'm hoping to see a demo soon... It sounds wonderful.

the janome will sit ok, however it is much more comfortable to have a sewing table to set the machine in. janome on line has the table for the 7700. ihave one and wow what a difference.

qulting needle 14 is for thicker material. I use material tht is it a tighter weave...stuff like whayt they use for curtains. I can get it for 3.99 a yard at a fabric store near buy. Its nice and heavy. quilting needle #11 is good for regular material and going through the batting.

So far the only size table for the 7700 that I know of is the Koala...sooo expensive. I really want one that I can put inside the table that you can not see the sewing machine when not in use

Keep us posted as to what you find please. I would love to have a proper table for mine that hides it away. Mine "lives" on the kitchen table as what was going to be my sewing room is now taken up with a longarm and frame. Believe me, I'm not complaining!!! I will sew on the kitchen table forever to have my longarm!!

Hi Carol. I just re-read your post and realized that you said that you have the binding attachment tool. I thought you said that you "want" it. I found a good photo instruction on Janome.com - here is the link: http://janomelife.wordpress.com/2010...omment-page-1/ They recommend that you follow the steps provided with the tool up to #4 and then follow their posted steps. It looks like the cat's pyjamas!!

ceck out Janome on line they have a table for the 7700 it's great and much easier on your back.

wtxpeach 04-10-2011 02:23 PM

Carolaug, thanks for the help with the needles!

carolaug 04-10-2011 02:49 PM

I like the idea of just having my husband fixing the instead to make it fit...that just may work. The purpose for the table is so that I can put it away and make it look like just regular furniture. My hubby would love me to sew in the back room...but I like sewing in the kitchen/diningroom.

I have that table but I didn't pay anywhere near what Kohls wants for it. I did find it considerably cheaper here: http://www.accent-furniture-direct.c...AU1134_5497794 but I'm not familiar with this vendor. I got mine at Walmart on a Black Friday sale a few years ago. Hubby cut a hole in it and built a shelf at just the right level to keep my Elna 7200 (very similar to a Janome mc6500/mc6600) level with the top. There are a few more inches to spare so the new Horizon 7700 might also fit but I would definitely be taking a tape measure with me to the Janome dealer to make sure before plunking down $250 for it. I'm sure it will sit on top just fine, though.

Have you considering buying an old wooden table and having someone cut the appropriate size hole and build a bracket shelf under it? I saw Eleanor Burns and her son do this on one of her tv shows several years ago. Lots of area to the left & behind to support the weight of all those quilts you'll be working on with your new toy--LOL!

There was a picture of my table on the board. Last fall or late summer, I believe.

carolaug 04-10-2011 02:50 PM

Thanks...I think I am just going to have to try it...I have been chicken...

Hi It seems to me to be too expensive. I found the Janome set in sewing table for 349.00 It's white so it throws off light and my back and shoulders do not hurt anymore. That Arrow setup is not wood it's that pressed stuff. Go on line to Janome , they made that table for the 7700, it won't take up a lot of room and it will be much easier to move around. Happy shopping!

carolaug 04-20-2011 01:07 PM

its only 169.00 for the gigit

carolaug 04-20-2011 01:14 PM

Check out Arrow Cabinets – they are hosting a series of giveaways on their FB page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Arrow-...ts/92404926447, including a sewing suite! You can also give them a call to get a Janome-exclusive coupon! - they are giving away two table for the Jamome 7700 - they just need 8 more likes on their facebook page...

The blue bobbin case has a little different tension setting on it and is specifically designed for free motion quilting. There are 2 small 'detail' changes to the bobbin itself to avoid birdnests and tension issues.
