Wow, don't wait too long! I've had Janome machines for years, worked them all very hard and every one has only been retired due to my desire for a newer, fancier machine. In fact, I first chose a Janome based on the recommendation of a home ec. sewing teacher because Janome was the machine that stood up well to high school students. Add that background to the capacity of the new machines and the Janome becomes a fine, reliable product. On top of that, it sounds like you have a great place to continue dealing with as you keep up with regular maintenance visits. DO IT.

I love my Janome. If you still like the mating after a test run, I think you should go for it. Getting what you paid for your machine 4 years ago sounds like a great deal. I would go for it.

The Janome 12000 and the Ellisimo both sell for 10,000.00 plus 15% sales tax(11,500) in my area. I have watched every video that's available online. Although I originally wanted to stay with the BL, I am open to change lol (mine isn't even made anymore so it's probably middle of the chain whereas the 2 I mentioned above are top of the lines) I know to try to sell mine privately, I'd be lucky to get $1,500.00 for it. I really like the embroidery unit on the back with the Janome and other things I saw in the videos too. I thank you guys who answered me and if there are more people with Janome's do you love them? i have a janome MC11000 and an MC6600P. i've had the first for nearly four years and the second for nearly three.
i am very happy with both.
i will confess to a niggling yen for the 12000 waaaaaaaaaaay in the back of my mind.
so far, though, i am happy enough with the 11000 to ignore it. (who knows how long that will last. LOL )

my favorite thing about the 11000 is the way the embroidery unit is built in. the only thing i have to remove (and therefore risk losing or damaging) is the hoops. it's also excellent for piecing and quilting - either straight-line or free-motion. all of that will be true of the 12000, too. :)

One thing I found out from the preview of the 12000 is that it comes with limited hoops - unless that has changed. My Ellegante has a bunch of hoops and I would miss the 4x4 and the 5x7 hoops. Check out the feet that come with the 12000 also, I can't remember if you have all the feet for quilting included.

I also have the Janome 11000 and love it for embroidery and quilting. It is so much easier than the big embroidery module of the Ellegante. I love Janome and now can't find a dealer anywhere nearby for Babylock.

Hey, do you know how to use the border and quilting hoops with your Ellegante II? I upgraded to the II and can't find anywhere to learn how to use the upgrades.

Good advice on the board, be sure and play with the 12000 and make sure you like it. Only if you like it will it be an excellent deal!
