Janome Sewing Machine Decision
I have spent the most part of two days trying to decide between two Janome machines - 6700P or the 9450QCP. There is very little difference in price. That was going to be the deciding factor. I would appreciate any words of wisdom with these two machines that you have experience with. Forever Grateful!!

I have the 6700p and the 9400, note not the 9450. They are both awesome machines. The 9400 as well as the 9450 have more features than the 6700p.
The 9400\9450 has auto pivot and end of bobbin sensor. The 6700p doesn’t have either of these features. It does have a knee lift which compensates for the lack of auto pivot. They both have the HP foot and plate which gives you an awesome straight switch that gives very accurate 1/4 inch. They both do fmq beautifully. The 6700p is semi professional, sews very fast if you want and can sew over thick seams with ease. I like the bobbin winding better on the 6700p. If I had to choose I would get the 9450 as it has more features but they are both terrific machines so whatever you choose you won’t go wrong. |

The 9450 has free arm capability; the 6700 does not. The 9450 comes with an extension table; the 6700 does not. The 9540 comes with a ruler foot; the 6700 does not. The 9450 comes with a couple additional feet (like HP2 Flex) that the 6700 does not. The 9450 has an 11" throat; the 6700 has a 10" one. The 9450 has automatic tensions; the 6700's are manual The 9450 has pull-out lighting; the 6700 does not If they are truly close to the same price from the dealer you're talking with, the 9450 is the better deal for a quilter. |
My 6700p came with an extension table.

Thank you very much for the detail response. They are both good machines. This is the reason it is a difficult decision. You have pointed out differences that will help with the decision. Thank You!

Thank you for this information. $2000.00 versus $2400.00 brand new. They are an excellent long time business. The decision is getting easier!

I guess I don't understand. $2000 vs $2400? That's alot less than MSRP for a new machine, must be a good sale. In times when prices seem to be going up, that's a great price for a sewing machine with all those features. And if the business your buying it from is a Janome dealer, even better. I say what are you waiting for.

No kidding! If this were local to me, I'd be trading my 7700 for the 9450 in a heartbeat (and I love my 7700)
