Janome makes kenmore. I have a kenmore that I have used alot in recent years and I love it. It was 1/2 the price of the janome for exactly the same machine

With the price of Bernina's feet and accessories being so very, very expensive and if you have to have it serviced, I would go with the Janome. I have 3 janome machines and love them. If you want a higher priced one - check out the Kenmore machines which are made by Janome - they are usually a good price . I have heard from several people who own Juki machines that they love them. They make a very sturdy machine. My favourite machine is my Janome 6600. I have had it for 5years and have sewn 2 wedding parties dresses - wedding dresses, brides maids and flower girls, as well as sewing for myself, my 3 kids and spouses and grandkids (6). I also quilt alot. Try all the machines and see what they feel like. You will know when you sew on them.

Well, Im a newbie to the quilting board so please be lenient with me! So, I am in the market for a new sewing machine! What I've had before are two horrible singer machines, one which i could return, the other which i could not (stupid thing!). This time, I actually did some research and have found out more about other sewing machine brands. I'm currently looking at Bernina, Janome, and Juki sewing machines (I've decided to relieve myself of singer once and for all). I know they are all very awesome and reliable brands, but price REALLY matters here! I'm getting this as a birthday present from my grandparents (they pay half) and i pay the rest. So tell me first, which brand is better? And is the Bernina really worth it? even if I get a bernina, it'll be either one of the bernettes (which aren't even made by them) or a used bernina..... :hunf: So yea... And also, I sew ALOT and make my own clothes and stuff and I want a very reliable sewing machine, something I could put my life on lol. I personally want a bernina I guess, but my parents will say no (I'm sure of it) even if it will pay off in the long run. My grandma also owns an $800 janome which she swears by... Did I mention that the price range that my grandparents put down originally was $300 - $400?

Happy, hello,

I am trying to sell my new Janome sewing machine. It doesn't even have 5 hours sewing time on it yet & I'd like to upgrade already . Here a link to the very machine I have, it was bought locally and has a service agreement on it for a year. http://content.janome.com/index.cfm/...uilting/DC2012. I am asking $500.00 for it. Please PM me or contact me at: [email protected]. Thank you, LaQuita

i ***adore*** my "entry level" janome. i got it as a gift more than 20 years ago. it's been in for service once, and never ever fails me.

it's not fancy. it doesn't do anything special and it drives me a little crazy when the bobbin runs out and i keep stitching.

but it sews a great straight stitch, the zigzag works like a charm and for just about everything i have ever wanted to do (and i make a lot of my clothes too) it has risen to the challenge almost flawlessly. that includes zippers, buttonholes and the odd request to sew fabrics like canvas and duck.

you'll probably get all kinds of advice here. mine would be to find a good solid mechanical machine and save the fancy computer boards and plastic fantastics for a time when money isn't such a tight concern.
