Just got this alert from my dealer:

"We are sad to report that an entire cargo container of JANOME Memory Craft 11000SE machines valued at over $1.7 million dollars was stolen on its way to the JANOME warehouse in New Jersey. We have a list of all of the serial numbers, and just want to caution you that if you happen to see a JANOME Memory Craft 11000SE for sale on the internet, you are probably looking at stolen goods and the FBI will be looking at it, too. If you have any questions, please feel free to call Paramount."

So beware if you see a too-good-to-be-true deal on the Internet. If it turns out to be one of the stolen machines, I am pretty sure the police can confiscate it and you will be out your money and the machine.

My mama always said, if it looks too good to be true,
it probably is!

sewmuchmore 08-31-2011 12:01 PM

Sad that people do things like this. :-(

WOW!!! I hope they are caught. I wonder if they even knew what was in the container before they opened it?
I sure love my Janome 11000SE

Yep. Just because you didn't know it was stolen when you bought it doesn't mean you get to keep it. Sucks if it happens to you but that's how the law is.

Candace 08-31-2011 03:13 PM

Yikes.

sahm4605 08-31-2011 03:18 PM

how sad. i hope that no one gets taken on a too good deal. I also do hope that if some people are buying the stolen goods that the company might see it as a great PR op and maybe give a discount code of sort or something like that to those poor people who thought they were getting a good deal on something.

DogHouseMom 08-31-2011 03:21 PM

My best friends husband is an investigator with UPS Freight. Have heard many strange stories from him about theft on a large scale like the one above. Most of the stuff that he investigates are "inside" jobs.

I'll have to ask him if he's heard about this one.

cathyvv 08-31-2011 03:28 PM

Now we have to ask the question:

Did one of us mastermind this theft?

Nah...

Dolphyngyrl 08-31-2011 04:36 PM

why can't everyone in this world just make an honest living, really!!! Even to hear of stolen quilts just sickens me..

doris.meek13088 08-31-2011 04:58 PM

My personal opinion is that there is nothing you do wrong that you can get away with forever. They will get caught, even if it is not right now.

Economy good or bad is no excuse for theives, they are around when the economy is booming also. Makes me wonder what the excuse is then. Honest people don't steal!!!

blueangel 08-31-2011 06:30 PM

How sad. Hope they catch them.

pocoellie 08-31-2011 07:18 PM

So sorry to hear this, but thanks for letting us know, so that we know if it's a great deal, there's something suspicious about the deal. Hope they catch whoever is responsible.

jaciqltznok 08-31-2011 09:04 PM

we are talking an entire cargo container????

They had NO clue what was in it...unless they were smuggling something inside of those machines...

who can take and hide an entire cargo container???

watterstide 09-01-2011 02:45 AM

here is the list of serial numbers of the stolen machines.

Linda1 09-01-2011 03:16 AM

They will be punished one way or another. I am a firm believer that even if the police don't catch you God will always know.

smagruder 09-01-2011 03:25 AM

Mayabe if someone sees them on the website they can contact police or Janome.. Some people just don't have a conscience and belong in jail.

It would have to be someone with a tractor trailor to haul it. And then stash it somewhere until they opened it. And when they opened it they had the surprise of their life to see if full of sewing machines.

Honestly, most people don't understand how a sewing machine can cost as much as a used car. Or more then a big screen TV. "It's just a sewing machine" I've heard numerous times before I stopped mentioning how much mine cost-when I was asked by close friends.

Sewfine 09-01-2011 04:36 AM

That's ashame. People, people, what wrong with the old hard time labor. Thanks for the warning.

Sharoni 09-01-2011 04:42 AM

Thanks for the list of serial numbers waterside. I'll keep an eye out.

jeanneb52 09-01-2011 05:12 AM

I told my kids simply " If it ain't yours don't touch it!"

I made my daughter take back a candy bar and give it to the manager. She was a really cutey when she was small and he was going to do the" oh its nothing!" cause she was crying. I was standing behind her scowling at him shaking my head.He played along with me but I thought he was going to cry. lol She was only 3 but she remembers that to this day.

Now with my son it was buttons. LOL And the same thing didn't faze him on little bit.

Stealing food to feed your kids is one thing still wrong but I can at least understand it. But stealing sewing machines. Nope that's just greed.

Mickie612 09-01-2011 05:44 AM

At least they had good taste.

Anna O 09-01-2011 07:19 AM

How sad. I hope they find the thieves and sew them all together!

joycecil 09-01-2011 07:57 AM

So sad.

Raggiemom 09-01-2011 08:11 AM

I hope they catch whoever did it.

patricej 09-01-2011 08:32 AM

I have just had to delete comments from this topic that ranged from hysterical to borderline profane to outright slanderous.

Stick to the facts.

Machines have been reported stolen.
Serial numbers are available at a website.
http://content.janome.com/index.cfm/...heNews?NID=268

If you want to express sympathy for Janome and/or your hope the machines are recovered, that's fine.

If you find and would like to share a confirmed report that the machines have been recovered, that's fine.

Nothing else is appropriate to this topic.

roxie623 09-01-2011 09:01 AM

Unbelievable! But the saddest part about this is that some of the persons that purchase these machine will no idea that they were stolen until they go to register their warranty. I wonder if Janome will work with those that honestly don't know that they were stolen?

TacoMama 09-01-2011 09:15 AM

Oh my stars!!!!!!!! How unreal!
