I love my Jelly Rolls, however, as much as I would like to unroll them, check them out, pet them, etc. I don't because I am sure I could not get them back in a roll again. Regarding the lint that Peckish talked about, I just saw a hint on the Moda Bake Shop and it said to run a Lint Roller over the edges to remove all the "fuzz" before unrolling it.

Oh my gosh, I am soooooooo jealous. Makes me want to run right out to check my Big Lots! I never seem to find buys like that. I'm afraid if I found them at my Big Lots, I'd end up buying all they had for that price! Good for you! And oh, your ladder idea sounds great. I know it looks pretty!

I just bought 4 jelly rolls at Big Lots in a pretty blues/browns/creams combination of colors - on clearance at only $5 each! As soon as I got them home, I unrolled them and put them over the rungs of an old ladder I keep against the wall in my studio. I love to look at all the fabrics included in them - makes me happy!

Love the idea of using the lint roller. I never seem to think of clever things to do like that. But I love reading those hints, and that sounds like a really good one!

I try to be very careful when I unroll them, trying not to totally unroll. Then I roll back up and secure as I go them.

I unroll them, spray starch and iron them and hang them on a hanger so I can admire all the colors. By doing this they are ready to be used and visible for selection.

Passionate Quilter - thanks for the tip with the lint roller!! I always have fuzz all over me, the table, the floor. :) I leave mine rolled until ready to use.

If I could even find my lint roller. Apparently it needs to live in the same hidey-hole I put my sewing scissors, my good Sharpies, all the Scotch tape, and my secret, stop-getting-on-my-nerves-before-I-smack-you stash of chocolate. I don't know why my boys are fascinated with the lint roller, but they are!
Some of you may be wondering about the Scotch tape. When my youngest was about 4 or 5, he wanted to use some tape. My MIL gave him the whole roll. I tried to take it from him and give him just a strip, but she wouldn't have it. She said let him play with it if he wants to! I tried to explain to her, but she didn't listen. Now, 8 years later, she is STILL picking Scotch tape off of her table, nightstands, walls, doors.... she did ruefully admit she wishes she'd listened to me. Heh heh. They're older now, 12 and 19, but they still love tape for some bizarre reason. They each get a supply in their Christmas stocking, but that's usually gone by February. Guess I should add lint rollers to the stocking stuffer list for Santa.... |
