Jellyroll Day
Today is national Jellyroll Day!
have you made a Jelly Roll? Quilt or otherwise? I have never made a quilt using a Jelly roll, but have decided to do it today. Will show progress. link I will use below. https://www.simplesimonandco.com/201...r-method.html/ |
I now know what I'm making for dinner (or I mean what I'm making for dessert for tonight)!!!

Can I play?
I made a jelly roll lap quilt but forgot to take a photo of it but this is the matching cushion I made from the left-over pieces. |
Moira, the matching quilt must be stunning.
Too busy studying today to quilt. No quilting at all for the rest of the year. |
This looks great. Such fall colors!
|
I agree with Tothill, the matching quilt must be beautiful.
Tothill, that is great you are graduating from University. My mother went to college in the 50s after 4 kids and I was born while she was in college. Never too late to go to school. |
Through with stitching and pressing ready to cross-cut strips.
|
As a matter of fact, I just happen to be working on a JR quilt. It's my first in the sense of using a bona fide precut roll, but not in using 2.5" strips (I made a baby quilt years ago of my own fabric selections).
This one is awaiting the remaining 3 B's--batting, backing, and binding. I bought flannel backing yesterday and still need to wash and dry it before I use it. https://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f...r-t306763.html |
I haven't use any of them yet, but I have now made 4 jelly rolls for Christmas gifts.
|
I love jellyrolls! I'm addicted to precuts.
That's a great pattern you're using! And I like the photos others have posted. |
Very pretty quilt and pillow. I don't buy precuts, cut my own.
|
QuiltsRfun your quilt is awesome, I really like everything about it. Is it a pattern or did you just go for it? TFS

I love jelly rolls (both the kind you sew with and the kind you eat). Here are 3 of my jelly roll quilts - simple rail fences. The first 2 were quilted by a lady who does longarm work, but the last one was the first I quilted at home on my domestic machine.

Love all these pictured quilts. Since my rheumatoid arthritis has gotten much worse I find jelly rolls a wonderful way to get around cutting so many pieces. I recently made 2 bargello quilts from jelly rolls and loved them. Simplifies the process for sure.

Nice work Bonniejp

Tothill, Congrats! proud of you for completing your education. What have you majored in? I am retired from teaching now, but went back and completed my educ. when both of my children were in school. I started 24 years before, then worked, married and had my family. After receiving my degree, I taught for 25 years, retired in 2004 early so I would be able to receive the GOP (government offset pension),and be able to draw on my husband's Social Security, since the school district we live in doesn't withhold SS. I resigned from my employment here and went to another school district and worked for a short time and had SS withheld which made me eligible. I haven't regreted doing so at all have loved every minute of retirement. You hang in there and finish that educ.

My most recent quilt top is a nine patch made from a jelly roll, background yardage, and a fat quarter. I loved the ease of using the jelly roll, but a couple of my strips were off grain enough that I noticed afterwards, and a few more had directional patterns that were printed off grain. It wasn't enough to put me off precuts (I am still working on cutting well consistently), but it made me realize they're not perfect!
