Anyone ever do a Jimmy Buffett inspired quilt? I'm planning a quillow for my Dad for fathers day and I have some fabric and some on order. Just wondering if anyone else has done one.
:-D |
This sounds like a fun project!!! :D:D:D

As in Hawaiian shirt type of fabrics? Yep! I make all of William's shirts, he only wears Hawaiians, and sooner or later, he'll get a quilt out of the scraps! :)

post a picture when you get your quilt done, please

Elizabeth's Studios has a cute line called Parrot Party.

Yes, I ordered some of those! I even found a fabric with liquor bottles and little salt shakers on it! So, Wasting Away in Margaritaville will be the theme. I've got fabric on order with margarita glasses on it. And I found some with hibiscus in the back round and pin up girls in front.
So I've got the margarita, the lost shaker of salt, and the woman to blame! And of course the parrots, palm trees - and I think I want to get some "water" fabric. Problem is - I have to tell the "story" on the front of the pillow. And I have no idea what pattern I'm going to use. Or what I'm going to use for the blanket part. I bought a beautiful batik for 50% off that I was thinking of ....... |

Sounds like a fun project! Big Buffett fan here. I can't wait to see what you come up with.
|
sorry guys - I was impatient and it ended up posting 3x
grrrrrr |
I haven't tried one. Share yours with us. I can't wait to see it.
|
SO cool, hope to see a posting. I visited a cousin who had surf boards and a Woodie on her showercurtain and I called the bathroom, Margaritaville! Just had a beach/tropical feel. Can't wait to see your quilt. Lucky Dad.
Blessings, Ruth |
Thanks everyone.
I sketched up some ideas last night. Waiting for my ordered fabric so I can get going on it!! |
Put an extra pocket that says something like "Happy Father's Day 2010 ENJOY" on the outside of the quillow pocket, make it just the right size to put a Jimmy Buffet CD in.

Sure the one I have on order has kind of a brown wicker back round with different kinds of drinks on it. If yours is different I be interested to see it!
|
Actually, I have do have a collection of fabrics intended just for a Buffett quilt...tropical prints, a flip-flop fabric, a fabric with cheeseburgers, clocks (it is 5 o'clock somewhere!), salt and pepper shakers, fabric with drinks on them (I hope one of them is a margarita!), guitars. It's just in a holding pattern along with other planned quilts.

What a terrific idea. I can hardly wait to see a picture.
|
nope I sure have not. God bless. Penny

what about in the shape of a guitar? Or a boat? I have absolutely no hope of ever making something that flash, but, hey, I can help you in your dream . . .
