It is almost like JoAnn's here is trying to compete with Michael's! Well, Michael's doesn't sell fabric so why does JoAnn's need to sell craft stuff - stick to fabric and yarn.

He in Savannah GA the JoAnns store has improved with someone at the cash register & cutting section at all times. Also at the cutting table you have to take a #. That way everyone is served as they are in line. If there is a long line you can continue shopping and they will call your # over the intercom.

That is a good idea. In our store often the cutting person is also covering the register. Quite frustrating.

[quote=PatriceJ]well, that ought to generate at least 27 pages.

Yep, we do seem to beat a topic to death!

Yep Sound like a responce I got from K Mart when I shared my views on the lack of the sewing and material department.

We have a new super Joann's. It carries supplies for candle making, soap making, paper mache, jewelry making, painting, all kinds of needlework, fake flowers, garden items, holiday items, party items, and on and on. I would say about 1/4 of the store is devoted to fabric. THey don't have the selection that the other JoAnn's carried. And they closed two Joann's in the area before opening this one. Maybe all Joann's are heading that way.

JoAnn's has just opened a new shop in my town. I, too, have suggested to them that the isles between shelves of fabric are too narrow. Their shopping carts are rather large (suggesting, I suppose, that you fill them), and two can hardly pass in the isles between the fabric. Isles for other merchandise seem to be wider. Hope they take the suggestion!

Our JoAnn's aisles are not wide enough for two carts to pass. IF you are standing w/cart deciding on fabric there is NO WAY another cart can pass. The whole store is poorly designed.

I just got done watching "Undercover Boss".... I wish Jo-Ann's would do this show! (I work at Jo-Ann's, don't hate me! )
I really think that those at the corporate level have NO idea what it's like at the store level. But then again, I think you could say that for any retail chain.... The decisions that are made and passed down make us shake our heads most of the time. Ah well, such is life!
I think if they were to do one of these shows, it would open their eyes to what the public actually wants! Decently priced, good quality fabric. No more junky "dollar deals" or toys!
