They just finished remodeling the JoAnns store here and all they done was make it more crowded. They added a lot more fabrics and crafts but the store looks a mess. They even coverec or painted the windows so they could use that area formore stuff. It was comfortable shopping in the store before the remodel but now it is even worse. I'm sure they can sell more stuff with having more stuff but they should give some consideration to the customers. Can barely make it down an aisle with a cart and there is so much stuff up high that it can't be reached. I have noticed with this change that fabric is higher priced....some quilting fabric as much as $12.oo a yard but it sure doesn't look like quality fabric. In the past I have bought a lot from JoAnn's but when I see quality go down and prices up, it is time to shop elsewhere.

Ours was remodelled last fall. All the fine art stuff disappeared, the fabric section reduced dramatically, and aisle after aisle of scrapbooking doo-dads and overpriced machinery and accessories are taking up much of the store.
No AC Moores in this part of the state - used to love them when I lived up north. |
Sounds like the fabric is getting a smaller section. What do all fabricholics do for fabric? More and more are sewing and quilting.

I am all for higher quality fabric if they want to get rid of some of the low end stuff they carry. Love the newer stores, they have remodeled here and it is 1000 times better!

Wish JoAnn's could DECIDE WHAT kind of store they want to be when they grow up ... a craft /junk store or a fabric /craft store ??
WHY are they still trying to compete with HL & Michaels for crafts & floral ?? They can't do it ! and now they even added the "As seen on TV" junk ... Watch out, Walgreens ! :roll: |

Why they sell lamps....If the lamp costs $199...the store make $110 per lamp...more dollars per square foot of space.
So one box, about the size of fabric bolt, one sale..profit $110. It is all in the math, or greed,....have to admit...I like their coupons...but they don't seem to email those out anymore...only one in the paper each week. Sorry for the edits, my machine seems to be ultra sensitive today... Diana |
