[quote=mpspeedy]My embroidery machine has a warning beep but there is usaully enough thread left to finish the project unless I am just starting.

Does the empty bobbin mess up the programmed pattern when embroidering or can it continue where it left off after you fill the bobbin. Obviously I don't yet have an embroidery machine, but I hope to buy one within the next month.

j 02-20-2011 06:15 AM

I am going to try the bobbin on top and bottom, that sounds much easier to do. Thanks for the tip.-- J.

That is great! I really needed to laugh. My thoughts exactly!

tadpoles_62 02-20-2011 07:05 AM

seems like i do it more often than not ,lol :?

Tweety2911 02-20-2011 07:06 AM

More frequently than I want to admit to :-)

Pam H 02-20-2011 07:10 AM

That has never happened to me. I always have just a couple of inches of thread left in my bobbin after I finish my seam. IN MY DREAMS!! Welcome to the club!

Good idea when you are sewing a long row. thank you

Mazda 02-20-2011 07:25 AM

It must be going around. Ran out of bobbin myself!

debbieumphress 02-20-2011 07:27 AM

I use the large cone threads and have a holder that sits on the back of my machine and it goes and goes. I can't wait until there is an endless bobbin. My friends also sew with a bobbin on top and bottom so she knows before she starts. Been there done that. One good thing is I keep three of those bobbin holders full of full bobbins, so I grab one and off I go again.

quilter68 02-20-2011 07:27 AM

Julie R,

Thanks for my first laugh of the day.

If you could invent an attatchment that would do that, you would get rich quick!

Yes, it sounds different and always lets me know within 3-4 inches if I'm out of bobbin thread.

pigasus718 02-20-2011 07:50 AM

Bobbin thread?? What bobbin thread?? There's suppose to be thread in the bobbin??
I wish I had a dollar for everytime that's happened. I could buy more fabric!!!

Ann S. 02-20-2011 07:50 AM

Believe it or not, my Pfaff out of the 90's actually has a low bobbin light. Not on my Husqvarna, Kenmore or Singer. Even the see-through bobbin cover on my Husqvarna doesn't prevent the bobbin from running out of thread. Go figure..

Baba71 02-20-2011 07:52 AM

Been there, done that!!!!!!

steelecg 02-20-2011 08:16 AM

Been there and done that - just last night in fact

I guess I'm lucky I have a baby lock thats tells when the bobbin is low and shuts the michine down until you put a fresh one in.No longer running with-out bobbin for miles.

Scakes 02-20-2011 08:55 AM

Been there, done that. I'm a member too.

My embroidery machine has a beeper to let you know the bobbin is getting low. Bad thing is, it starts alerting you when the bobbin is maybe half full. Every time you start sewing it beeps. I hate it! It's way too early and by the time you are out of bobbin thread, you've started ignoring the beeps.

Chris Kieffer 02-20-2011 09:48 AM

Another member here!! I did that last night! Too funny!

dcamarote 02-20-2011 10:34 AM

Well, I used to have the same thing happen. But, about 2 years ago I bought a Babylock machine and guess what???

It does tell me when the bobbin is almost out of thread. In fact, it tells me repeatedly; if I am trying to just finish an inch, it still alerts me. I think it is great. Not everyone can afford a new machine but for those that are thinking about it, choose one that has this feature. It is well worth it. And, it does not start beeping until you are very, very close to the end.

That's a great idea, think I'll try it.

plainpat 02-20-2011 11:17 AM

I use cone thread & it goes forever....or so it seems.Would be great to have a bobbin that matched it !

chickadeee55 02-20-2011 11:19 AM

My DH doesn't understand why someone can't invent a machine that will feed bobbin thread off a spool, so you don't have to keep winding the little things!
Maybe next year.

Me too.

Maia B 02-20-2011 12:01 PM

Some machines have a low bobbin alert feature, but none of mine do. I can *usually* tell by the sound. I tried that bobbin on the top trick recently, works on most machines, but gave me weird tension on my kids' Brother HS 2000.

PattyS 02-20-2011 12:07 PM

I have a machine that shows me how much bobbin thread I have but I keep sewing. I am always in the middle of a project and just hope I have enough left till I get finished.

What a good idea! Why didn't I think of that?
thanks!!

dixiebelle162002 02-20-2011 12:51 PM

I always hate that when it happens!

Doreen 02-20-2011 01:05 PM

I used to have that problem. I use the prewouhd bobbins made by Superior Threads. Now I have to check to make sure that I have bobbin thread because it should have run out. I did a free motion quilt with 1 bobbin and could have gone more. The quilt was 45 x 54.

I believe it!! Had only six inches to go and ran out of thread in the bobbin! Well, atleast it wasn't as tramatic as yours. However, a new invention must be out there to let us know when the bobbin is almost empty......come on inventors..... there is money to be made here with a patent!!!

There are machines out there now with this feature. My Viking Diamond andRuby both have this feature.

I just don't find this to be such a big deal, just another part of the process.

Well alrighty then

Somerset Val 02-20-2011 02:06 PM

My Janome tells me when my bobbin thread is getting low!!

laurlync 02-20-2011 02:13 PM

I HATE it when that happens. Unfortunately, it happens all to often.

TexasSunshine 02-20-2011 02:18 PM

I like that my Pfaff has a light that blinks also but there is usually quite a bit of thread left, so I go as long as I can. My Brother has a bobbin on top that I can see and it beeps also.

sammy89 02-20-2011 02:36 PM

thanks god my machine tells me before the bobbin is empty

penski 02-20-2011 02:39 PM

i have done that so many times also , but now i am getting in the habit of checking every once in awhile!!!
