My quilting has definitely been a journey, not always a smooth and easy one either. There have been many many bumps in the road. I can look at the colors of the quilts I have been working on, and tell you just where I am on that journey Its fun to look back and see which ones felt sunny, and which felt like clouds were forming, and which ones I made during the storm. Right now its stormy, and my colors seem to reflect the darkness. Do you find this true on your journey as well?

Very profound!

I have been always told "It's your quilt you can do whatever you want with it " So have followed that rule and have always been happy with my results... Imagine others may not like what I like but it's mine...

Very insightful! And the best part is, we're all in this journey together :)

jojosnana 11-09-2010 06:49 PM

It is always fun to travel with friends!!

galvestonangel 11-09-2010 06:55 PM

Too cool! And what a wonderful journey it is. Even though we may approach it in different ways, we are still one great group.

Prewash? Yes, definately. No, never. Depends.

Fleece backing? Of course, do it all the time. No way, no how!

Quilting? Hand, of course. Machine fancy. Machine plain. Tie the thing!

What a relief that is! Personally I look for the answer that affirms what I wanted to do anyway and deem it the RIGHT answer!

I've decided that we are all on a journey with our quilts. Some of us are in different stages of the journey; others are traveling different roads; some travel solo; some travel in groups - but, we are all headed the same place. A place that allows our creativity to flourish, our families to be warmed, and our love to show. How cool is that?

What a wonderful analogy! It sounds like the beginning of a book about quilting!!! Are you a writer, too???? Thanks for sharing. My feeling exactly!

earthwalker 11-09-2010 07:44 PM

Yes, a beautiful, interesting and colourful journey, with excellent travelling companions...Thank you for putting it so nicely!

Very well said!!!

doxieloverred 11-09-2010 10:17 PM

Pretty much sums it up for me! :)

doxieloverred 11-09-2010 10:22 PM

And the best part? It's OK to be different and it's OK to be in different places in the journey and it's ALSO OK to head down the path alone or in a group. But in the end, we all end up in the same place--with family and friends that love and appreciate us.

penski 11-09-2010 10:42 PM

very well said !!!

Isn't it great that we all have our individuality yet love to discuss our quilting with each other! I love the way you put it. QUILT ON!!

AnnT 11-10-2010 05:36 AM

Very well put! I LIKE your philosphy and plan to use it as mine as well!

mimiof3 11-10-2010 05:38 AM

What a great way to put it. I really enjoy this quilting board. After getting my coffee in the am I head here to learn and get inspiration. I feel like I'm having my coffee w/a great group of friends who enjoy the same things I do. I have learned so much here and get some inspiration from all the beautiful quilts. I really am enjoying this part of my journey!

I think you can just unsubscribe from any group you belong to. There should be info. about that on those 2 other quilt boards that you belong to; normally you just click on the "unsubscribe" option. Any proper group has to have info. about unsubscribing, etc. (My e-mail address has fallen into the wrong hands recently and I'm getting a ton of spam that I don't dare open & a few that I do think are safe to open, I can't seem to unsubscribe from.)

I think you said what one feels. Thanks for reassuring us.

Annz 11-10-2010 07:24 PM

Yes and it is so nice to have other people along in this journey.

Beginner64 11-10-2010 07:30 PM

I think you definitely hit the nail or should I say needle on the head with that beautiful sincere statement of your thoughts.

Couldn't have said it any better!!!

Ladybug 1938 11-11-2010 02:42 PM

I never put a quilt on the floor to sandwich it, even a King size.. You won't believe this but I used a Queen size bed and sandwich all my quilts on it... I just make sure the back is ironed and smooth and the batting ( I use all cotton and put the dimple side up to better grab the top) I also smooth the top really well before Pinning it...
I have spray basted some using 505 but most times I just pin and not a whole lot of pins.. I also quilt on my lap and with no frame...
Haven't had any problems and have been quilting since 1985..

My sentiments as well. You just said
it a lot better than I could have.
Love this board!! Hugs, Sharon

I love the journey, but sometimes the detours really take time! The detour signs are down a lot and you don't find out about the detour until you're half way through! Oh, well, each step is a learning experience. Happy Quilting, everyone!

I had a teacher who said "there are no mistakes in your quilts" and if you don't point them out to any one, chances are they will never notice (unless you enter them into a judged quilt show). Just loving little booboos.

luvTooQuilt 11-15-2010 11:03 PM

 Couldn't agree with you more.. Well said..

AnneT 11-15-2010 11:34 PM

Thank you!! That's how I -and obviously many other folks over here- feel.
Quilting hugs from Germany!

PS: I really appeciate the open mindness and tolerance of this board. Never felt left out or not fitting in, although I'm not from the States. Thanks to ALL OF YOU for making me feel comfortable and at home aboard!

I agree with you whole heartily, He and other "younger" generation understand what we have done most of our adult life. They think we should cater to them. I have found sanity and laughter here also a friendship which is hard to find in the real world. Friendship of one stranger helping another unseen but willing to help you back with out thinking of what you want i return.
