Good Morning,

Does anyone know anything about a singer 99 ((3/4 size) clone marked American?

Thanks,

Sharon

This article may provide a clue - http://sewing-machines.blogspot.com/...s-and-60s.html

look for 'made in Japan' or 'JA' stamped into the bottom.

Okay first of all there is no such thing as a "Japanese Clone" it is a "Copy" or just referred to as a Japanese 15 or Japanese 99. I am looking at the boss under the machine it should have a serial number on it, I need that number. Also the face plate that is on the machine if you could take it off and see if there is an "SK" on the backside of the plate. The face plate is what the tension regulator is fastened to. Just loosen the top screw and it will slide up and come right off.

I have an idea as who made this machine because it is a lot like my Universal 15 that I have in my studio. And I did a research project about this trademark and company for the NeedleBar.

And it wasnt Japan!!!

As far as the JA or JC numbers I do not think this machine will have any because of its age and Manufacturer, but you can never be too sure! ;)

Also take a photo of the underside so I can see that also it can tell me more about the machine, and any markings that are on the parts under the machine.
