Actually it isn't upside down. If you put the quilt on your bed and turn the top part of the quilt down the design should be right side up!

I'm so sorry! I can't even imagine how you have chastised yourself over this. I love the reactions from our members regarding your back. I agree with all of them and maybe you will be able to think of your (hand-quilted masterpiece) as two separate quilts. Each with their own placement. I have not used a directional backing yet but have had seam lines that looked horribly wonky. Can not seem to get them centered and straight. Finally, had to accept my abilities and move forward. I commend all of you hand quilters. I believe it is amazing.

I'm with Cactus Stitchin - a Pollyanna looking for the bright side! Better that it was switched up vs down instead of right side in vs out :) I'm still somewhat new (under 2 years) to quilting and have made plenty of imperfect quilts but now I actually relish the uniqueness of my.. ahemm... special design choices :)

Hey! No one sees both sides at the same time! When I had a problem of hub caps coming off my car and 2 of them were missing, I had to buy a new set of 4 with a different design. I told the mechanic to put the 2 originals on 1 side and 2 of the new ones on the other side. He was shocked and said that they wouldn't match. I told him that no one could see both sides at the same time. He laughed hysterically, but it paid off because after a month or so, I lost another and I had the handy replacements. Eventually they figured out and fixed the problem with the wheel.

I agree with felinefanatic!

It is all good!! Let it go and that is my motto. Life is too short to be concerned about the little (or big) stuff.

I have to watch I don't sandwich with the wrong side of the backing on the outside. I have almost done that more than once or twice. That would be a worse mistake. So smile and be glad you at least have the backing right side out! And everyone is right---no one can see both sides at the same time, so that's acceptable! Wrong side out would be unacceptable. I think it's bound to happen to me one of these days....

That would not be a problem for me. So far I haven't put a back upside down nor wrong side out. It could happen.

I believe it was Thomas Edison that said, "I failed my way to success."
Except you didn't fail. Most mistakes that stick is one we won't repeat. (hopefully) We haven't been perfected yet. |
