I very seldom ever pin anything. I'm thankful I have Accufeed on my Janome!
Yup ,That's how I did it. You will know when.
If I am sewing long pieces together, I pin them. Otherwise, I do not. Maybe I should pin all the time and my blocks will come out better. ;)
It depends on the pattern. Many do not require pinning. Some will get up and run if you don't pin. Mostly I stay away from those.

I pin all nesting seams - otherwise, only with long strips
Only when seams MUST match. Remember a thread here that advised pinning at those seams, checking accuracy, then re-doing if necessary or continuing on. One of the better tips I've gotten.
If your seams match up where you have the seam allowance on the bottom piece pointing the opposite way as the seam allowance on the top piece, that alone holds the seam in line without a pin, while sewing.
I pin when I'm putting on a border.
not if i dont have to , so my answer would be no
I pin to match seams and occasionally when I'm sewing a long run such as a border if there might be some stretch in one of the fabrics.
pin
The only time I pin is 2 blocks together and do not want to sew wrong edges together

I'm an over pinner. Don't remember ever not pinning.
I seldom pin pieces, only long runs like borders, or if the two pieces don't 'nest' together, but then I'm impatient :-)
Nope, don't pin.. I do use an awl to make sure my fabrics stay just where I want them as they go under the needle. I will pin strips when I'm sewing rows together, then use my trusty awl just to make sure!
sometimes yes, sometimes no. depends on various things
nope ..... never have
only when seams have to match and also when sewing bias blocks..
I don't usually pin. But baste a lot.
I do @ intersections!
I match up the seams and that's about it except for when I am quilting it.
If I need to match points or seams, I sure do pin!

I've been quilting for over 12 years, and I still have to pin. I can't seem to keep pieces from sliding apart if I don't. Maybe it's because I don't do well with machinery!
Only if it's a tricky seam, like curves!
I'm with Amma. Washable glue sticks work extremely well, and I never 'pin' myself. Key word is WASHABLE.
Ditto. After watching several of Sharon Schambers videos and tutorials on YouTube and her network. I have started using Elmers school glue and love it. It washes out and comes apart easier when you need it to than taking a bunch of pins out. I used it on the binding of the last quilt I did for Christmas a king size and it worked great. The binding seemed to lay much flater and it was much easier to sew, because it was as though the binding was already sewn on. I did about 30 mug rugs and glued them, as well as the five table runners I did for Christmas. I like this idea and it really works for me.

I pinned alot when I first started. Now I only pin for tricky things (star points in particular). Pin however much you want. There is one thing to keep in mind if someone else hasn't already mentioned it. Try to keep the pins away from the sewing machine needle. I've been lucky not to be injured by flying metal (knock on wood) because I didn't take the pins out quick enought.

I pin everything. As my pieces go through they seem to get a little off kilter towards the end if I don't pin. Maybe using a stiletto or something like that would help though...
Rarely.
Very rarely, only on the most complicated blocks, I do pinless curved piecing and love it.

Yes -- pinning makes me feel more comfortable. It always makes me more accurate.
I've been sewing for years and quilting for years too. I just always pin. I hate ripping stitches and it seems if I don't pin, I just have to rip. I just keep pinning.
I pin as little as possible, only when I feel I need to match a seam. I use my stiletto a lot.
If I have seams to butt up, I will pin them. It is easier than unsewing it they don't match up later.
