Make sure DIL tells anybody who asks that he got it for waaaaaaaaaaaaay less than the regular price.

I think that your quilt was worth way more than you sold it for. But, when it comes to family, it is hard to charge what the quilt is worth. Most people have no idea what fabric goes for these days.

I sold a couple purses (6) and a baby quilt this last fall. I figured out what I made an hour and it surely made me sick.

I never set out to sell them, friends just kept buying them when I got them made. It put me behind on my christmas gifts a little, but, that is ok. Friends are more important, right?

Congratulation! :D

Come to think of it, I always end up making them as gifts so nobody ever bothers to ask for a commision.

Wouldn't know how to price it anyway.

When we were waiting for the ferry from North Sydney to Argentia I found the Singer shop on Prince Street had some fun fabrics...and then I also found the Quilting on the Myra little shop....not alot of fabric, but friendly machine quilter...and I got some star fabric. Do as many searches as you can before you leave, even Nova Scotia quilt guilds....you can find great links.....

To be fair, we didnt' discuss price before I made the quilt. He's family and I knew he wouldn't try to stiff me, and I left it up to him to give me what he thought was a fair price. He knows the value of something hand crafted, so I wasn't worried, but I wasn't expecting to get my time's worth in money. Good job FIL :)
