I've hand quilted for a few years but only recently started to FMQ and oh boy do I love it. Just finished a couple of lap quilts for my nieces, the blue one was a simple D9p but the other one was all English hand pieced, I kind of like to have something to piece infront of the tv at night. This was my first attempt at FMQ other than having practised for weeks. I am most definitely hooked on it now.

I like how you've set the different blocks, inspires me to see what I can do with all my "leftover" blocks from past projects, good job

HollyDav 02-11-2012 04:28 AM

Lovely quilts! This may be the year I give FMQ a try. I've been afraid of it. Thanks for sharing your pictures. Very inspiring!

indymta 02-11-2012 05:11 AM

Both are very pretty. I hope to do a large quilt in the near future. I have just begun quilting and these beautiful quilts are an inspiration.

Both are just beautiful. I have practiced some free motion, but not ready to try on projects yet.

Beautiful quilts. You did great quilting on them.

sandybuttons 02-11-2012 05:34 PM

Beautiful :)

luce321 02-11-2012 05:39 PM

Both are beautiful and good luck with your FMQ. I have been wanting to give it a try, but I don't know how to drop the feed dogs as my machine is not a new one. I have read about putting the card board under the needle with the hole in it, but I am afraid to try it for fear I will mess up the machine. Oh, maybe one day. Good luck with your FMQ, looks like your are on your way.

Nanaquilts44 02-11-2012 05:42 PM

I am going to try fmq and this inspires me to just dive in. those quilts are beautiful

Quilting Angel 02-12-2012 04:55 AM

I also enjoy FMQ, but can't do anything outside of meandering and swirls. I tried the feathers, but that didn't go well. Maybe I will give it another whirl soon. Your quilts are really pretty. I especially LOVE the second one....great job.

Yooper32 02-12-2012 04:58 AM

Very innovative block placement. I especially like the second one and the blocks in it. I really admire anyone who hand-pieces.

joyce888 02-12-2012 05:25 AM

Very pretty quilts, like the mix of patterns and layout.

EagarBeez 02-12-2012 05:45 AM

I could not see the first quilt, there was a small block with an X in it, the 2nd quilt is lovely, I love the the reds and what looks like avacado. very pretty

tedytrser 02-12-2012 05:48 AM

Very Nice!!!!!

Elaine433 02-12-2012 06:07 AM

I love FMQ. I just sometimes wish I had a machine with a longer arm. The part I dislike is having to reposition the quilt so often.

gypsylady5 02-12-2012 06:36 AM

Really nice. FMQ isn't all that hard if you have the right equipment. A walking foot is essential and a good strong machine is next. Patience is a must!!!!!!

Keep going and you'll become very proficient at it.

mhollifiel 02-12-2012 07:58 AM

Nice job!!

duckydo 02-12-2012 08:15 AM

They are both lovely!!!

Tartan 02-12-2012 09:07 AM

Your quilts are lovely! Congratulations on your FMQ skills. I love to hand quilt but I'm not getting any younger.:D If I want to get to half of the quilts on my bucket list, FMQ is the way to go.

cat2quilt 02-12-2012 09:11 AM

Your quilts are beautiful and your FMQ finishes them wonderfully.

jmabby 02-12-2012 09:13 AM

Both are beautiful, my favorite is with the green and beige

Helena 02-12-2012 09:39 AM

-What a nice choice of fabrics. I especially liked the maroon border one. Did you use stencils for the border? I made the mistake of using blue pounce powder for white sashing and had to wash the quilt. It never looked that good after that.

Bobbielinks 02-12-2012 09:44 AM

Great job! And what an inspiration for us all!

dd55 02-12-2012 09:52 AM

beautiful quilts.

nannyrick 02-12-2012 10:02 AM

Beautiful.Love them.

keolika 02-12-2012 10:36 AM

Your work is beautiful. I too am a new FMQ I like doing the hand quilting too, but I think their is a place for both. I found a class on " craftsy" for $29.99 that teaches some great tips and techniques for FMQ and I have learned a lot. I am doing SOOO much better now.
