Just curious.
I hear laughter from the Heavens and an etherial voice that says "Got ya agin'"

I am sure that is possible, but I just haven't experienced it.
I look forward to that Day!!

Yeah! Sure! Right! Okay Scottie, beam me up now!

Sometimes it helps to call it 'unsewing' rather than ripping. ;^)

Of course the Amish require a mistake in every quilt. Can we blame it on them?

zz-pd 03-13-2010 05:27 PM

you are to funny. Penny

I have to rip out and redo blocks often but the other day I had to do something I hadn't done before. take out aome quilting stitches (quite a few) and redo. I hand quilt and that really made me disgusted.
I really don't think it happens very often if people are honest.

Gerbie 03-13-2010 07:04 PM

Sure just draw a picture of the quilt you want to make, color it whatever you desire and draw stitches on it , you would probably have to erase something though lol Gerbie

Geertje3 03-13-2010 07:07 PM

hate to say this out loud, BUT, today I was stitching away, happy as a clam to be at the machine again, pressed my block, and discovered that one piece was in wrong-side of the fabric out. A new low, or high, or something...

zkosh 03-13-2010 07:27 PM

Yeah, right! In my dreams...

QuiltingB 03-13-2010 08:21 PM

Oh, heck no. I know exactly where my seam ripper and reading glasses (to magnify the stitches) are.

lucyb 03-13-2010 09:21 PM

Sure, if it's a quilted pot holder.

I think if people are honest they would admit to having to do it more than you think. Then again, some just "make do" with whatever they've done if at all possible. I posted an Opulence Marbles quilt on one of the threads that had 20 16 1/2" blocks. I was going great guns and had 19 of them pieced before I realized that I'd done half of them wrong. Talk about being disgusted! I was in a class and just packed up and came home where I spent an entire day fixing my mistake. It was a good lesson learned---when in class talk less pay attention to my quilt more.

I thought I was the only one that happens to. also I might add "running out of chocolet" that I have when the times really get frustrating working on the ""quilt froom Hell"!

When I made my brother's couch throw the Bear Paw blocks in the center of the Log Cabin blocks were 6 1/2". I told a friend that those "toes" were hateful little things. Working with HST that small was very trying for me. The little sq in the center of the block was only 1/2". But when something is so hatefully hard don't you feel a great sense of accomplishment when it's done? I know I do. Every time I "conquer" something new I feel 10 ft. tall and bulletproof and the next time I do it it's so much easier. I did my first "Y" seam a few weeks ago and almost pulled my hair out over the first one. The second went together smooth as silk.

My favorite words while quilting, ouch, oops, not again!

WLee 03-14-2010 08:42 PM

Are you kidding??!! How about re-sewing a mistake in a simple patchwork doll quilt three times before realizing that no way would my square not abut up against a matching one, no matter which way I turned the quilt! I was supposed to be "teaching" my granddaughter the "correct" way to do things! WLee

With each little error we learn a little bit more.
With each drop of blood I see it as mark of love.
I love to quilt but have yet to complete one without sometime being torn out, redone, marked with blood or (and this happens occasionally) put to the way side to be completed another day. Oh well, my WIP & UFO are always calling me and making me feel always wanted. ;0)

Joanieu 03-15-2010 01:45 PM

This was way too funny to read. But wouldn't that be wonderful if it could happen??? My quilts would be getting done a whole lot faster and probably no WIP...lol :)

Only in a world where chocolate is not fattening
