RatherB Quilting 03-11-2010 06:08 PM

Is it actually possible to make a quilt...a whole quilt...without either drawing blood, running out of bobbin thread, or having to pull out at least one seam?????
Just curious.
I hear laughter from the Heavens and an etherial voice that says "Got ya agin'"

mom-6 03-11-2010 06:11 PM

It would have to be a VERY small quilt....

pam1966 03-11-2010 06:12 PM

It would have to be a "cheater" panel for me, with extremely simple grid quilting!

Prism99 03-11-2010 06:20 PM

No.

kasmitty1 03-11-2010 06:24 PM

Only on the 2nd Tuesday of the 5th week of the month. ;)

dkabasketlady 03-11-2010 06:27 PM

No, I hate to be chaining along and not paying attention that the bobbin thread was gone 2-3 sqs. ago and have to backtrack.

sewnsewer2 03-11-2010 06:32 PM

Nope, no way in my house at least. LOL

Sharon M 03-11-2010 06:32 PM

lol my personal answer to that is NO. Even if it would just be one block, one if not all of those things would happen for me.

BKinCO 03-11-2010 06:33 PM

I didn't know that was even a possibility!!!

renee765 03-11-2010 06:45 PM

Yes, but only in the Twilight Zone.

marsye 03-11-2010 07:24 PM

Well of course! Whats wrong with ya??  LOL

tkhooper 03-11-2010 07:46 PM

Not in my experience but then I'm new.

grammyp 03-11-2010 07:51 PM

Nope.

littlehud 03-11-2010 07:53 PM

It's never happened here. I have all those problems daily.

bkb 03-11-2010 08:34 PM

Well, honey, there was a time before the quilt police arrested the good quilt fairy! WWWay before my time.

amma 03-11-2010 08:40 PM

Only in my wildest of dreams :D:D:D

Gramof6 03-11-2010 09:18 PM

Honey do you want the truth or the REAL story? :D

memathomas 03-11-2010 09:33 PM

lol

cooper715 03-12-2010 04:11 AM

this thread cracks me up, because I have thought the same thing! I figure that there will always be a part of me in every quilt I make LOL Drew blood yesterday...

k3n 03-12-2010 05:19 AM

Not here either! LOL

MamaBear61 03-12-2010 06:10 AM

NOPE, can't be done

raptureready 03-12-2010 08:06 AM

I'd be very wary of anyone that told you YES. If they lie about that, they'll lie about other things too. LOL
The good thing is that it's like labor pains---once you see the end result the pain diminishes quickly. Otherwise no one would ever have a second child or make a second quilt.

jljack 03-12-2010 08:41 AM

Easy answer.....No!

Ditter43 03-12-2010 08:51 AM

You are kidding....right??????

Ditter

calicocat 03-13-2010 05:52 AM

I thought every quilt made required blood, sweat, tears and a little cussing.

stitchinwitch 03-13-2010 06:07 AM

Hahaha SOME of your responses are funny!! Yeah - ya CAN do it - I have only seen VERY EXPERIENCED quilters design a whole cloth quilt Iat the Houston Quilt Show) - they used an air gun and created beautiful scenes, and then quilted by hand I believe. Could YOU do that?? huh?? Can ya? I sure as H--- could NOT! I am a 16 year "beginner" my hair is white so I would NEVER finish it before I was "finished"! Good luck tho!------ let us see it IF you decide to do it!---

mrspete 03-13-2010 07:36 AM

snicker

cjomomma 03-13-2010 07:47 AM

When you find a way let the rest of us know. LOL

redrummy 03-13-2010 08:21 AM

only if you believe the tooth fairy and the easter bunny have started quilting.

*QuilterWannabee* 03-13-2010 09:22 AM

I can't speak from experience, lol...

lclang 03-13-2010 09:58 AM

Maybe a quilted postcard!

jolo 03-13-2010 12:38 PM

No and I will add another, sew it back on the same way it was before I ripped. My son hears me saying ohhhhhhhhhhh noooooooooooo, and he yells out rip it out. lol Jolo

Stitchnripper 03-13-2010 12:43 PM

Not for me either, plus as Jolo says, sew it back the same way. I've done that more times than I want to admit!!

KarenBarnes 03-13-2010 01:30 PM

Maybe in my next life!

JS 03-13-2010 01:33 PM

That voice isn't from Heaven, it's the quilting imps. They giggle every time you poke yourself or reach for a ripper. They will also kick your fabric off the table, hide your cutter, put your pins on the floor and sometimes even pull your fabric so that your seam wiggles. They get pretty quiet when we win and get a quilt done---you won't hear a peep out of them. That is until you start your next project.
