Do you take classes? I guess that a FW is easier to take to class. Do you really need it or just want it? I only have 1 machine and I do not see the NEED for more. I have looked at several Kenmores vintage and been tempted to buy one cheap but then wonder what I would use it for. I quess that I would rather spend money on fabric to sew that something to sew no fabric on. As for fishing poles- each one can served to catch different fish and under different conditions. LIFE IS REALLY NOT A COMPETITION

i quilt, dh races his corvette...........only pylon course against the clock...they won't risk hurting their babies.
when he started complaining about $$ on fabric, i told him i hadn't even caught up with tires yet.

You don't have to justify buying a FW. If you don't have one, you are missing out on a sweet little workhorse. I highly recomend getting one. I bought 3. One for me, and one for each of my girls!

I would definately buy the featherweight. They are great machines even if you don't sew on it often they are so nice to have in case you want to go somewhere else to sew, (lightweight).

then a couple years ago, i won a set of hoosier tires at our corvette convention. that gave me another $1300 to spend.

I used to autocross also, and got DH into it as well. It is so much fun, plus our local branch of the SCCA used to hand out pretty cool trophies :-)

I almost forgot - no justification needed for a featherweight. Even DH thinks they are cute ;-)
