My husband has a 1949 Chevrolet that cost more than all my machines and fabric. If I can afford it at the time I buy what I want. We do have bills and a lot of needy family members so they come first.

If you ever watch Suze Orman, she says,"people first, then money, then things", so since you're in the people catagory, make yourself happy and go for it.

Buy the machine. It is a wonderful machine to have in your collection. You will find that it is a great traveling machine for classes. I love mine!! :P

If you can afford it, then treat yourself :)

When I got my third machine my DH asked if I was going to trade in or sell my old ones. I asked him what he was going to do with his 3 golf cub SETS when he got a new set. No more questions on why I kept my old machines.

When my DH commented on my stash, I asked him how many fishing lures were in his tackle boxes! Price each is approximately equivalent. He quieted down pretty quickly! :-D

I've since learned to keep my stash cabinets closed whenever I think he will be in the sewing area.

We all need our hobbies, don't we???

My husband has 40 - 50 rods and reels plus enough lures and other accessories to open his own store. Also, he has two boats but I don't care because he fully supports my quilting spending habits.

Buy it , we women always think we have to justify our purchases. Just think of it as the same as; "You Husbands Boat In the Garage", and enjoy.

This is from my husband...
His Sage rod cost $695.00
His Sage reel cost $700.00

He has 4 Sage rods and 2 Sage reels and the others are Lampson reels, they are also very $$$ So my thoughts are if you both enjoy giving to each other this is a wonderful gift for your sweetie to give to you. My husband has not bought any of his rods or reels or guns. He tells me what he would like and I go off looking till I find the best price. I love that way of giving what each other really enjoy. This is all providing you can afford your wants. Right now things are snug so we don't oogle at things we can not afford.

OOPS edit...I have 6 Featherweights (one white) I love them all but my favorite one is my first one her name is Abby 1934 she is so sweet!
