Personally think cona cotton a wonderful fabric to work with and making quilts. Some fabrics are so flimsy and not worth spending all the effort .

I usually get mine from Hancock's of Padukah, but yesterday I found someplace that had it even cheaper. I just can't remember at this moment where it was. The thing is, just put it in your search line and compare prices. It's never terribly expensive. I don't get it at Joann's because they don't seem to have the same quality of fabrics as the other fabric stores. 8-) |
love Kona its great quality made by Robert Kaufmann lots of beautiful colrs and you can see and feel the quality,

I've used Kona cotton many times and although it certainly is sturdy, personally I think it's a little heavy for a lot of projects, especially if combined with lighter-weight fabrics in a quilt. Doesn't seem quite right somehow. I usually have used the black and as I always prewash my fabrics to avoid bleeding and uneven shrinkage, it seems to me that the black looks sort of "used" or faded in a way before I've even cut it out.
I think I'm going to look for a different line of solids to use if I can find one with a nice firm-but-not-heavy hand, and that prewashes nicely. Recommendations? Dana |
Never heard of Kona

Jerseyites the is a fabric store in Vineland N.J. called the pin cushion . Reminds me of Lits basement in Philly . Can't hardly walk for the bolts but its soooooo worth it . Must stop next time I go home for a visit .

i just looked that up and it does look very interesting. when i'm down in that direction, i'll swerve to get there.
with websites so affordable and cost effective for businesses, why, oh, why, doesn't a business have a website of it's own? all i could find were those stupid ratings sites, where people give stars based on their own personalities and you don't really see what the store has to offer. |
I LIKE TO USE KONA COTTON WHITE WHEN I DO REDWORK OR BLUEWORK EMBROIDERY, RIGHT NOW AT HANCOCKS IT IS ON SALE FOR EITHER HALF PRICE OR 53% OFF TO CELEBRATE THEIR 53 YRS IN BUSINESS. TO ME IT LOOKS GREAT IN A QUILT, BUT WHAT DO I KNOW I AM A BEGINNER QUILTER.
