Labyrinth Quilt help

I am in the process (just starting) of making a Labyrinth quilt and am wondering if those of you who have made it can give me any hints, suggestions, etc on making this quilt - I would appreciate it lots! Thanks!

There are several quilts named Labyrinth, you will have to do a link to the pattern.

scrapngmom 08-24-2016 09:37 AM

Do you mean labyrinth walk?

Ann Marie O 08-24-2016 09:56 AM

Yes Labyrinth Walk

Ann Marie O 08-24-2016 10:04 AM

This is the quilt I am looking to make

Organization is the key! I used post-it flags, cut all my fabrics following the cutting chart and labeling each set as I went then laid everything out in order. The pattern is well written and easy to follow as long as you label everything and stay organized. I also laid out each block as I went to make sure I didn't turn anything the wrong way

scrapngmom 08-24-2016 01:37 PM

It really isn't as hard as it looks. I was at first intimidated when my son chose this pattern, but once I got going I realized it wasn't too hard for me (an advanced beginner.) Just take your time and enjoy the process

maminstl 08-24-2016 03:58 PM

I agree with the organization - label all your pieces - I put mine in plastic bags -and just follow the instructions. Not really hard at all.

quilts4charity 08-24-2016 04:52 PM

I made it and it's really not hard at all, just pay close attention to the instructions.

Ann Marie O 08-24-2016 07:22 PM

I have the magazine pattern with the corrections - I didn't buy the pattern in the package - is this a problem? Or, should I buy the pattern in the package? I did read through the pattern I have and it doesn't sound all that difficult if I take it a step at a time

I agree. Organization is the way making sure every piece is in it's proper place. I use scraps of fabrics to number my blocks.

QuiltnLady1 08-25-2016 06:02 PM

I use big clips from the dollar store to hold my pieces unless there are too many then I put them in zip locs.

ladyinpurple135 08-26-2016 06:12 AM

Also just make sure you go to the link and print out the corrections (which I just did as I love this quilt, too). I'm going to save it in the pattern bag so I know where it is. Thanks for the reminder.

I saved the pattern when it first came out. (Thanks for the corrections file). I know my son would enjoy it, but to be honest it intimates me. I'd love to see some of your Labyrinth finished quilts.

Ann Marie O 08-27-2016 09:14 AM

Ok, I have ordered fabric to make this quilt and I have printed out the pattern and corrections so one I receive the fabric I can get started.

AudreyB 08-27-2016 09:17 PM

I used clothes pins and wrote the piece number on it with a sharpie. Clothespins are cheap and it really helped keep it organized.

I found that the pattern I used said to place like the picture, but in some pictures it was hard to tell their black from their dark. I had a few pieces upside and, of course, it didn't look right. When I found and printed the corrections, I also found a picture with a better color contrast. That helped a lot. Now that mine is finished, I can't figure out how to quilt it. I'll try to post a picture tomorrow..

Thanks Audrey - I would love to see a photo of your quilt - I am thinking it needs a all over meandering for quilting myself - but once mine is finished I will ask my longarm quilter what she thinks

I don't have a pattern for this so was wondering what is the size of this quilt and how much fabric do I need? It doesn't tell in the pdf instructions, just for all the blocks. Can and how would it be made bigger?

According to the pattern I have the quilt is 84" square and requires 1 2/3 yds white, 2 7/8 yds light color, 2 2/3 yds dark color and 3 1/8 yds black (which includes enough for binding) - each square is 21 3/4" in size -

sewmom 08-30-2016 07:46 AM

That quilt is my next one to start. My DH saw a picture and he wants me to make it for our bed. When I told him it was designed by a guy, he said Well yeah! Like there was no doubt. Lol. I'm using grays, black and white.

sash 08-31-2016 06:54 AM

Thank you Ann Marie. I am going to go look for that magazine; just may have it.

This is the Labyrinth Walk I made for my son. He chose the colors. My long armer quilted a connecting square within a square pattern. I can't find a picture of the finished quilt. I will go home and take one and see if I can get the quilting to show up.

Edited: Just noticed this picture doesn't have the sides borders on it yet. Sorry. But this is not a hard pattern. It looks more difficult than it is. Don't be intimidated.

thrums 09-02-2016 06:03 PM

Thanks for the pic. I can see the rows a bit more clearly here, but my eyes are still spinning. It's on the "list".

Growlingbear 08-29-2018 05:12 AM

Almost finished with the top, Got to stitching the right border. Says to make (1) 6-1/2” x 66-1/4” border. But in my cutting instructions it didn’t mention to cut this length but to cut (2) 6-1/2” x 42 strip. I don’t see where it uses the 42 inch strips. Does it want me to piece my 42 together and trim it to 66 1/4”?

Onebyone 08-29-2018 06:29 AM

I bought the pattern. It has many more pages then the magazine pattern and much more detailed. You can make it from the magazine pattern though, just may be a little confusing at some steps. There are two corrections in the pattern on his blog. https://theguiltyquilters.blogspot.com/ I don't know if he is still active in the quilting community. No updates at all from his website.

I can't seem to find the quilt magazine site to get this pattern. Can anyone post a link or somewhere I can download this pattern?

Thanks, but the shipping is more than the pattern!

Wow, Goldenleaf, you're really doing a great job with your searches, very kind of you to help out!

dlm 05-14-2020 05:13 AM

Thanks again Goldenleaf, it is so frustrating that the shipping in all places is way more than the actual cost of the pattern. I will just keep looking.

Goldenleaf 05-14-2020 06:10 AM

Last one http://www.funwithstitches.com/shop/...-x12653404.htm. Sorry it’s not clear what the shipping is for a lot of these sites

Have this also, like to make it soon

I have this pattern but feel a little intimidated by it. First of all, fabric colors are so hard for me to decide on. I think this is a wonderful quilt but quite a challenge for me. Good luck on your adventure of making this great quilt
