Try ebay for vintage linens, I have found quite a few.

nativetexan 07-14-2010 03:22 PM

i hope those links help. i know it's just a matter of folding the handky like a butterfly. search photos of them and that might help.
or look in tutorials here too.

That would be so nice. I made one but just made large squares and appliqued the hankie on them. turned out great as well.

grammyj 07-14-2010 04:31 PM

I've never seen a hankie quilt so can't help with that, but welcome to the board.

I made a wall hanging for a friend with her Mother's hankies. She was so pleased because her father always said her mother was like a butterfly.
Welcome and I know you will enjoy making a quilt with your hankies.

I have a pattern for making a butterfly out of the handkerchief. In the picture, it is the bottom left block with the dark purple background and yellow boarder.

PJO 07-14-2010 06:14 PM

That is so cute! I really like the butterfly.

Tigger 07-14-2010 06:36 PM

I used hankies and folded them in the shape of a butterfly and appliqued them onto a piece of white fabric. The quilt really turned out pretty. I cannot find the pattern but remember seeing it a couple of days ago. Will look for it and send you the info. Also, I will take a pic.

I just saw one yesterday, i think it was on e-patterns. Check out this link:

I think it is gorgeous; I have a lot of hankies that belonged to my husband's grandmother - it would make a great quilt like this one.

Gwyn 07-14-2010 07:22 PM

Quilter2B's link to e-patterns is the one I have.

Thanks for finding it on line Quilter2B
