I look at your Kenmore pic and then I look over at my current machine and they are the same!! If you find out how to use the fancy stitches or do anything besides a straight stitch on it, I would love to know. I think maybe something is "off" in mine.
I got mine for free too, I knew I had a Kenmore cabinet and it fit right in.

Good luck. I have the second machine. I purchased it 42 years ago. I used it 24/7 in my bridal shop and now use it for quilting. I have never had it serviced until 4 months ago and it was because I burnt out the foot pedal motor. It was replaced for 10.00 plus the 19.95 for looking at it. I just love it. You cannot drop the feed but what I do is release the pressure to the foot the tube that is on the top of the machine above the foot. ENJOY.

I can't help but laugh. I got a free machine a few weeks ago at a summer cottage. My husband put it in the van. My grandson got his license and he asked to borrow the van as we were using the truck. I said sure but please put the sewing machine in the house and the big lobster pots for me. He said sure. Well 3 weeks went by and I asked if he put the sewing machine away for me. His reply was,"well I put the pots away but I could not find the sewing machine. Again I said it is way in the back. 2 days later I get a call from him. Hey Nini Jack found it. It was in the back of the van but it was in an end table, you never told me that. I said, Oh! I am sorry, I thought you knew what a sewing cabinet was. We all had a good laugh.

How wonderful that she called you and provided a good home & caretaker for these machines.
