I like to make mine 60" long and 45" wide, My husband even likes his a bit longer, I guess it depends on the persons size.

The one I am making will be abou 63 by 62. All the material I have as it is made from old men's shirts.

i have a kit for lap size that states 72x72 from connecting threads

i think thats almost a twin a twin is 63x87 according to my chart

I guess it depends on who/what it's for.

When my mom was making "lap quilts" as a charity project for nursing homes, they were approximately 36 x 45.

I think they were mainly to cover people's legs and laps when they were in wheelchairs. If they were too big, they got caught in the wheelchair wheels.

But they were supposed to be big enough to tuck around their laps. A 36 x 36 would be about a lap napkin for me. :?
