I love the Sewline marking pencils. I found them a couple of years ago and haven't used anything else since. They mark a fine clear line with no effort at all.
I have used the eraser to remove the markings but I have also used the steam from an iron. I don't put the iron on the fabric, I just hold it about an inch or so above the fabric and hit the 'burst of steam' button and like magic the mark is gone. |
I'm always looking for the "right" marker. That's for the tip.

Thanks for the information.

I have the Bohin mechanical marking pencil - similar to the Sewline. My friend just bought the sewline brand over the weekend. Directions say erase or wash. Not sure if the lead sizes are interchangeable (prolly not). I love the Bohin that I have as well. Only have the white lead for it. For light fabrics I use a regular mechanical pencil with #2 lead. Have only had a problem with that washing out 1 time. If the leads aren't interchangeable I might have to switch over the the Sewline as they seem to have more colors available. Then again, might just have to check the office supply stores to see what sizes/colors of 'leads' they have and what the removal instructions are.

Has anyone tried tailors chalk pencils, I saw them on ebay in green (set of 20 pencils for $9.50). Would that be the same has the Bohen ones?

I have a Bohin pencil and I love it.. So far the leads have been interchangeable.

I purchased the "pink" sewline marker simply because my LQS was out of the other colors, turns out I love that thing! It has worked great on every color so far. Did I mention it's pink! My favorite marker too.
