Hi, I'm just wondering, am I the only one on the face of this planet that is eternally grateful for this gem of time?

If it weren't for the last minute, nothing would ever get done!

I've finally quit beating myself up for waiting till the last minute to complete (or start) something.....the next step is to train myself to get something started and well under completion way before the last minute gets here!

(yeah, like THAT's ever gonna happen)

Am I the only one who does this or are there any fellow commiserates?

babyfireo4 05-26-2011 10:00 AM

Last minute is my best friend! It's when the most manages to get accomplished! I'm still trying to get an introduction to ahead of time ;)

Raggiemom 05-26-2011 10:03 AM

I'm hoping to not be finishing Christmas gifts at the last minute this year. Of course, that would be more feasible if I didn't wait until the last minute to start! :)

Prissnboot 05-26-2011 10:04 AM

You want a head of time? I'd settle for a body of silence, a leg up, a hand out, or something else to that effect!

mrsk 05-26-2011 10:06 AM

If it weren't for the "last minute" I wouldn't EVER get a project done! I've known my nephew was engaged since Christmas & the shower is in a few, make that 2(!) weeks, & I think I just decided what to make! LOL! I guess I'm just one of those people that can only be creative when the pressure is on! (you too???)

Terryl 05-26-2011 10:08 AM

I find I do my best work "under pressure" of a deadline, re: mom was coming on Friday for long weekend, wanted to make a bag for her for mother's day. Bought pattern, charm pack, batting/stabilizer ready to go, right? Well, I made it on Thursday before she got here, stayed up til "all hours" finishing it :) :) :) P.S. She loves the bag.

Grama Lehr 05-26-2011 10:13 AM

I do my best work at the last minute! My hubby can not for the life of him understand the concept, but that is the way it has always been, and I don't expect it's ever going to change!

MadQuilter 05-26-2011 10:14 AM

I swear my middle name is Procrastinata. lol

nycquilter 05-26-2011 10:17 AM

not me. I was the student everyone hated--my papers were done way ahead of time. That gave me the ability to edit with "new eyes"! though,I do work best when I have lots to do and am under pressure.

valsma 05-26-2011 10:18 AM

Alway a procrasitnator so yes I appreciate the last minuet greatly.

Mariposa 05-26-2011 10:21 AM

Love the last minute!

lynnsim 05-26-2011 10:24 AM

Yes, I've always done things the last minute, but have always managed to complete on time.

QuiltnNan 05-26-2011 10:25 AM

my dgd's bday is in 10 days. i planned her outfit a week or two ago, but cannot start it yet as it is not the last minute yet :)

pipp5 05-26-2011 11:31 AM

Last minute!!!!!! Had hopes of finishing the quilt I started for my daughter when she was in first grade to give her when she graduates high school tomorrow nite. Am always a last minute type of person...quilt is sandwiched, thread loaded in machine....friend I haven't seen in a couple years cuz she moved out of state called and is in town for the day and wants to come over this afternoon....so now I'm thinking graduation from college???!!!!

Painiacs 05-26-2011 02:18 PM

zennia 05-26-2011 02:34 PM

Next to my seam ripper "last minute" is my best friend.

Ramona Byrd 05-26-2011 04:31 PM

Do you mean the lap robe I have to finish before my son's birthday on Saturday? This coming Saturday?

Well, all I have to do on it is put on the binding. After I sew on the last row of blocks. After I finish that last block. After...well, gotta go to buy some more black but not real black thread, I've been waiting till I'd used the last of it so I would have the spool to take with me. If I remember it.

That's all that has to be done with it. After I get through reading all these letters and seeing all the pretty pictures on this forum.
And after I get through with that last chapter in my mystery book.

Numa 05-26-2011 06:07 PM

I am a deadline person. No matter how hard I try or plan, I end up working up to the last minute. I've just accepted that's me!

OHSue 05-26-2011 06:49 PM

Hey,, anyone can work at a nice steady pace when there is lots of time.
It is we tough ones who can stay up all night slaving away at the last minute!

deedum 05-26-2011 07:03 PM

Yea, I am a last minuter! I do my best work then and in no time :)

Novice.for.now 05-26-2011 07:06 PM

Hey, I never get any inspiration until the "last minute." Drives Hubby totally crazy 'cause he doesn't run that way. Some of my best work has been done at midnight, the night before.

TonnieLoree 05-26-2011 07:16 PM

Wishing all of my time would be as productive as "the last minute".

mhollifiel 05-27-2011 03:50 AM

There is no last minute. There is only it's done! A dear friend in the defining management minute of my life caught me spinning my wheels over all I had to do. She said, "Holli, when have you ever not gotten it done that it really mattered?" Talk about perspective! And it's always (somehow) gotten done. . .I just don't fret over it anymore!

not_sew_sane 05-27-2011 05:00 AM

Also work best in the last minute but it does stress some people out. My duaghter wanted me to make her prom dress a couple years ago, her only requirement was that it was finished 5 days BEFORE the prom.

mimee4 05-27-2011 05:01 AM

Oh yes, last minute, do it under pressure. Is there any other way??

Roberta 05-27-2011 05:05 AM

Hand raised here. I wait till the last minute and seem to do my best work that way. Of course my "best" would be sad compared to the beautiful quilts I see on the Board.

tntgranny 05-27-2011 05:09 AM

Just finished the projects that needed to be done this month (anniversary and birthdays) and cant seem to figure out which to get started on. Have several planned for Christmas gifts - but that seems too far away. Just can't get myself to start cutting and sewing them. Guess I need to get closer to "the last minute" and then I will be in panicsville.

lillybeck 05-27-2011 05:25 AM

I have been a last minute person most of my life so I very much understand this. I wonder if we just work better under pressure.

shnnn 05-27-2011 05:38 AM

Even if I do manage to get started ahead of time - I tend to put it away about half done - and drag it back out at the last minute. Hubby gets all uptight about it -- but he's just as bad as I am.

LindaDeeter 05-27-2011 07:07 AM

Isn't that what "last minutes" are made for??? Last minute - panic mode - things get done, don't they? :)

catrancher 05-27-2011 07:45 AM

I used to be that way, but then I realized how stressful it is to procrastinate. Now i'm a plan-ahead kind of gal. When I had to write papers in grad school, I always tried to finish them a week before they were due. Then, while my fellow students were burning the midnight oil trying to get their papers in on time, I'd say, "oh, that old thing?" No wonder I didn't win any popularity contests!

MelodyWB 05-27-2011 07:47 AM

LOL..I work better under pressure!!

Quilt Girl 05-27-2011 08:10 AM

I had a stressful job for 30 years and I don't like my hobby to be stressful too. I don't like doing things under pressure. I plan and try to do things ahead of time :)

I have been famous for doing that too!!! The last few years I have worked harder on working on some of my gifts much earlier in the year!!! Saying that I have yet to start one this year!! LOL

Rainbow 05-27-2011 08:29 AM

amen...I was told the same thing about myself....AND WAS TOLD that I should get all the other odds and ends done and up to date...so I would feel free to express myself happily AT THE LAST MINUTE. Made a WORLD of difference in the mind set of this thought.

IBQLTN 05-27-2011 09:23 AM

My best friend has a habit of doing this. She prioritizes then reprioritizes and the the time slips up and she's in trouble. She also suffers from OMT!

She's always late because she always thinks she can do just ONE MORE THING before she needs to leave the house!

Me, I'm more of a procrastinator which is why there are so many UFO's and WIPs in my house. If found one the other day I didn't even remember I had started it!

i get so mad at myself for waiting for the last min... I don't know why i do it!?!?!?

KSue 05-27-2011 10:05 AM

I do some of my best work under time constraints.

trolleystation 05-27-2011 11:59 AM
