I use a knife edge to finish the edges. I guess I'm just old fashioned but this is the way my grandmother taught me and I really like the effect.

OK. How do you birth a quilt. Never heard this term before. Sure does make you conjure up some funky ideas!

WMUT each,
Here is how I birth a quilt: front and back -rightsides together-add batting-sew around the edgewhile leaving opening to turn. After turning, I sew around the edge about .5 of an inch. Quilt as you want.

Mostly I do this for baby/toddler quilts because they get a lot of wear. Wishing you the best.

To birth a quilt, I put the batting on the back of the quilt flimsy. Then I make the backing and lay the batting, quilt flimsy down right side up and then lay the backing right side down. I sew about a half an inch all around the quilt except for 10 inches. Then I reach in the hole and pull everything through it and poke the corners out nicely. I iron the quilt well and then quilt it all over. This way you don't have to do the edges with binding. It's great for kids quilts!

Birth as above, but before turning right side out trim backing, batting...I trim backing fab about 1/4", and carefully trim batt to about 1/8", less bulk that way.....a quick way to do small things too.

Auto correct will not correct a word that is spelled correctly but used in the wrong context
