Which layout do you prefer?
 

I am making a pattern from Missouri Star called Block in a Block. There is a video on it.

I am struggling between a structured layout of these blocks and one more random. Which do you prefer?

I like the first one the most. Pretty colors.

I like the second one. Don't have a reason, just more pleasing to me.

Either one but I kind of like the random. So either would really work!

I like the second one better. I think it has a better balance of color. The first one is pretty too, but too much blue.

First one gets my vote. But always do what you like. That's the best choice.

In the first layout ...try switching 1st block with 8th and the 12th with number 13? Too computer challenged to cut and paste myself. Good luck!

I like both so either one you select should be great.

Yeah, if I could decide which one I like better, I would do that. :) I actually like each one. I have decided to decide later....

I loved the 1st one. It just jumped out at me. And what's funny is I'm usually a "structured" gal...but sometimes we just have to "random it up"..lol.

I think what I notice in the 2nd one is in the middle some of the blocks are so close in value, and being light they kind of get lost in each other. The colors you used are fabulous, and I love the way they work together, yet the different darks, mediums, lights can be arranged where the colors contrast so beautifully as well.:thumbup:

I like your revisions in post #10.

the revisions put those 3 bright turquoise together 11 12 & 16 I think. lovethe colors. Block placements take me a long time. Play until you are happy

yes, your rearrangement looks great and so did the first photo you posted too.

I like the second one better

Well, now I have played a bit more and am thinking of this one. Somehow it looks "softer." It's a good thing that I have taken pictures of each order so far, so I can compare. :)

I like random, much more interesting.

The quilt police seems to like the second one.

I like this one better because I do not like the darker purple with white flowers in the same row, colum or too close. that one really pops at me so this one would get my vote.

They are both great, but I do think I like the 2nd one a little better. I really don't know why. I think you did a really wonderful job and I absolutely love your fabrics.

i like them both, but if i had to choose, i'd choose the second

I think your quilt inspector all ready told you the second one is his pick as well as mine.

Personally I like the 3rd one best (Basketman) but any will work. Depends on what your eyes like best. You were very smart to take photos and now you can even look at each one on this thread to see what you like best. And you will still be able to lay it out the chosen way since you have the photo. Smart quilter! I often forget to do this and cannot go back to the layout I thought I liked best.

Did your cat tell you which one it preferred??? Sure looked interested in your second picture. I like all the colors you used.

What did the "quilt inspector" say?

Well, my cat was asleep in one picture and alert and awake in the other. I think the suggestion was that he was bored with one quilt and liked the other. :) Probably correctly too. He does have quilt opinions.
