Layout options!

Hello all ...

I saw a pattern on here about applique'd hearts ... loved it, and here's mine!

Question ... should I have the half hearts on the edges or just have it with the whole hearts? I'm not going any bigger, and I won't be adding a border

wow, both are nice but with no borders i think the second one.

WANNABEE 04-23-2018 11:19 AM

I agree, the second one

ekuw 04-23-2018 11:25 AM

I prefer the randomness of the 1st one :-)

Watson 04-23-2018 11:27 AM

I like the first one.

Well, I saw the first one and chose it! Then I saw the second and liked it even better. The edges give a pause and place for the eyes to rest along the edge.

Both are pretty though so it's up to you and your creativity! Did that help?

quiltsRfun 04-23-2018 11:38 AM

I like the second one.

Tartan 04-23-2018 11:41 AM

Both are darn cute!

Quilter 65 04-23-2018 11:43 AM

I liked the first one, until I saw the second one. Nice job of matching those who half-hearts positive and negative.

Cheshirepat 04-23-2018 11:44 AM

That's a tough choice! Both ways have merit. I love the movement of the random one best I think!

TheMerkleFamily 04-23-2018 11:46 AM

Both options are great! IMO the 1st offers a busier look with the pattern continuing all the way to the edge and the 2nd appears to showcase the hearts more by way of the empty edges framing the cluster of hearts. I'm having a hard time saying one looks better than the other as they're both beautiful - you can't make a bad choice here.

Really cute design. I like #2 better, but both are good.

Kassaundra 04-23-2018 01:09 PM

I would chose door number 2.

catsden 04-23-2018 01:53 PM

I like them both, but #2 I like most.

Tothill 04-23-2018 02:19 PM

The second one with no borders. The first would work if you did borders and mirrored the heart with your quilting in the border.

ILoveToQuilt 04-23-2018 03:23 PM

Both are great, but I personally would go with #2.

Prism99 04-23-2018 03:24 PM

I like the 2nd one best.

GEMRM 04-23-2018 03:59 PM

Both layouts look good, I find one more "whimsical" and the other more "formal" - so I'd pick whichever look you were going for, or like!
Really nice either way!

Boston1954 04-23-2018 04:02 PM

I did like the first one....and then I saw the second. Love it.

SusieQOH 04-23-2018 04:05 PM

What a pretty design!!! While I like both, I vote for the second one.

Maggie_Sue 04-23-2018 06:13 PM

I like the 2nd one the best. Beautiful!!!

Jennifer23 04-23-2018 06:17 PM

I prefer the second one, but if I had seen the first without the second, I would have loved it. Whichever you choose is great!

Barb in Louisiana 04-23-2018 07:14 PM

The second one looks complete. The first looks scattered. I'm for the second.

I agree with Tothill.

I like them both, but I think I like no2 best, love the design and the colours x

MINNESEWTOGETHER 04-24-2018 12:29 AM

I really like it with the half hearts ... the first one!

But, they’re both beautiful!!

Great work!!!

Mkotch 04-24-2018 01:32 AM

Oh! I love the first one. It is so striking! The second is too conventional.

ArtsyOne 04-24-2018 02:56 AM

I like them both - the first one would look great with a border to contain it and the second would look great without a border.

Thats_It_I_Quilt 04-24-2018 03:04 AM

I whole-heartedly choose the 2nd one.... 😀

Barb2018 04-24-2018 03:33 AM

Could you post the name of the pattern please? It's awesome ! Thanks!

I don't know the name of the pattern, I just a picture of it. Basically the blocks are 10 x10. I then used powerpoint and drew a heart. Put another heart in the middle (smaller of course) and printed that. I cut out the big heart (my template) and then cut out the heart in the middle so that I had a hollowed out heart. Cut it half and there's your template for your 1/2 hearts. They are appliqued on!

KwiltyKahy 04-24-2018 04:38 AM

I prefer #2. I like the completeness of the hearts.

humbird 04-24-2018 04:53 AM

They are both beautiful, however, in my eye, the first one looks unfinished. I'd go with the second one.

luvstoquilt 04-24-2018 05:06 AM

I think I like the 2nd one best but both are really cute.

SewCraftyGirl 04-24-2018 05:49 AM

Tough call! I loved the first picture, but found I like the second picture just as much. I have a slight preference for the first, but I don’t think you can go wrong with either one. Great looking quilt!

margied 04-24-2018 05:59 AM

I like the second one

ube quilting 04-24-2018 02:55 PM

They are both sweet layouts. I can't pick one over the other, make both, ha ha.

bearisgray 04-24-2018 05:24 PM

i like the second one better - especially if you are not planning to add borders.

WMUTeach 04-25-2018 04:27 AM

I vote for #2. I seems more soothing and less "busy".

mrs theo 04-25-2018 06:12 AM

I like the whole hearts layout!
