Okay...I'm confused...you said the back blocks are assembled. Does that mean this is the back of the quilt? (Looks good enough for a front to me!) If it is a back, the more solid looking the better, in my opinion. I would go with the first version. If this is the front, I would add a very narrow sashing to separate the blocks a little. I think they run together too much without sashing for the top of a quilt.

Offset ..... seeing as it's and "un" sort of quilt. If I can be bold, maybe float the blocks somehow with a neutral....sand...off white??

Great blocks! Both versions are nice but I prefer the offset one. Be different! :)

Off set is more visually appealing to me! It is like wandering through the woods and happening upon wildlife!

I loved the square pattern myself. I think it's wonderful and perfect for either sex! I myself have been a 'tomboy'all my life, and was driving 18 wheelers when seeing a woman driving a truck caused many men to almost faint LOL I love that now they are finally empowering girls to be what they want, which is how I raised my girls :)

I like the offset version the best.
