i used mine on quilt as you go projects. My blocks were 12" and i had a lot of leftovers that were that size width. The ones that werent i seamed together to make bigger pieces.

Yup, you already got all the right advice. Fusible tape, wide zig-zag stitch, DON"T overlap the batting, just butt together. Auntie B

I have 2 answers as to what I do with pieces of batting. They are great for quilt-as-you-go projects. I just made a dresden plate quilt by making the blocks, making the quilt sandwich, quilting them and then stitched them together. There are some good links on you tube for stitching them together and then...ready for binding. No one can tell I used scraps.
The other is fusible web. Rotary cut maybe 2 1/2 or 3 inches wide and lay batting edge to edge. Lay on the strips and , very important, cover with cloth and gently press...and you are done. If you don't cover the batting with a cloth, it melts on your iron...learned from experience.

I give my leftover smaller pieces of batting to my daughter to stuff her sock monkeys and other critters she sells.

I use the iron on tape that I purchase from Connecting Threads and it is wonderful. Actually so good that my mom can hand quilt thru it and doesn't even know that I have used left over batting. I highly reccomend it.

I use it for rag quilts. If they are for baby rag quilts I use 6 inch squares of batting, if it is for adults I use 8 inch or larger squares of batting. I zig zag stitch smaller pieces together if necessary and it has never been a problem....throw them out....no way.

:thumbup: yeah do a quilt as you go cutting all your batting the same size.. then piece the top with material, then back of batting put backing with about 2 inches on all sides then sew blocks together. I have made many quilts that way as cancer quilts for ladies and one man quilt 60x75.. nice quilts I have made..

The first day on his new job, my DGS fell and cut his hand. The only thing he could find to stop the blessing was a piece of quilt batting he had in his truck. The nurse at ask him what he had happened to him. He said "I had a quilting accident." .

I hear that is now a seaming tape available that you can join pieces of batting together. I havent tried it but think I will.
